Selecting the 'Lockers' item crashes the game

Guest shared this bug 2 years ago
Won't Fix

When scrolling through the alternatives after selecting the "Weapon Rack" item, I can successfully see the 'Weapon Rack', the 'Armory' and the 'Armory Lockers', but as soon as I scroll onto the 'Lockers' item, the game crashes. This also happens if I drag the 'Lockers' item onto my hotbar from the menu, though not when I hover over it in the menu. Hope this helps, and thank you again for creating such a great game!

Hello, Joshua!

Sorry to hear you're experiencing this issue. Could you please supply a copy of your log file from when this happens? Is this happening in any particular world or, all? Is it online or offline?

Can you please check that you do not have any mods installed while trying this?

  • You can access your log files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers.

Hi Laura,

This appears to happen in any of my offline worlds that I log in to, but I have not tested it online as of yet. I can also confirm that I am not running any mods on these worlds. I have attached the log file from the most recent time I re-created the crash.

Thank you for the quick response and for your help,

Josh

Hello, Joshua!

Thank you for the log. Looking at the exception 'ERROR Entity init!: System.IO.IOException: Data error (cyclic redundancy check)..... etc' I have done some research and it is pointing towards some sort of issue with either the files or the disk. I would suggest the following:

  • Verify your game files in Steam

  • Right click on Space Engineers in Steam Library → Properties → Local Files → Verify Integrity of Game Files

/bfSnH0rGoN-NgctSWBJN3LfvWZvgnfye9BrPgucxV0n8TDpNc-7yZYwSifdRXyl1quu20KGUNmHzSf6VGRbhWS4a_EYn2MclxJSOz6eVarmz-fhTWVaofVOAVZN_l_leF9dgQ5GF

  • Delete SpaceEngineers.cfg file

  • It means your game configuration will be deleted
  • You can access your SpaceEngineers.cfg by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers.

  • Delete ShaderCache folder

  • Back up your whole Space Engineers Roaming folder and delete it
  • Restart Steam
  • Reinstall the game
  • Make sure your operating system is fully updated

If this is still an issue, it may be worth looking into the drive itself and either swapping to another drive to try or, repairing it to see if this solves the issue for you :)

Kind Regards
