Thruster sounds in directions that have no thrusters

Reported

Hi.

Here is another bug i found, add it to the list of thinghs that could be fixed in the next update you keep promising but dont dare to speak about when it will come out.

I have a partialy built ship, it has only up and down thrusters, there are none hiden on the inside, incase you were wondering. When i press up or down keys, i get thruster sounds and movement. When i press left, right, forward or backwards i also get thruster sounds but no movement which is reasonable since there are no thrusters for those directions.

Even more reasonable would be if the directions that dont have thrusters, they also would not have sounds.

What do you say :D

Hello, error 404!

Sorry to hear you're experiencing this issue. Could you please provide a copy of your save/blueprint?

  • You can access your save files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers\Saves. There should be a folder with your SteamID and your saves.
  • Please zip the file and attach it here. If you are having difficulty attaching files you can optionally use Google Drive. When sharing a google drive link please make sure it is set to be downloadable by anyone with the link.
  • You can access your blueprints files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers\Blueprints. Select the correct folder where your blueprint is saved (local or cloud), zip the file and attach it here.

Kind Regards

Here

I also tried building a small demo ship with just a couple blocks, but i didnt get any thruster sounds in any direction.

Seems only larger ships get them.

I tried on other ships too, i get sounds on all of them even if i delete thrusters.

There are some left on the ship in attached file, but just delete them.

Also the ship in sent you in this save has a small grid ship atached to its rear which causes some stability isues as in the main ship's rear is sinking. Thats perhaps a story for another day or bug :D

Confirmed with the standard moon drop pod in vanilla game 1.199.025

STR:

  1. Launch SE and join a world.
  2. Choose Moon drop pod to spawn in.
  3. In the terminal, find the hydrogen thruster, turn Thrust override to Disabled, and switch it on.
  4. Leave the Terminal view and disable "Inertial Dampener".
  5. Drive around the Moon's surface with WASD only and listen for the thruster sound when NOT using Space.
Optionally, use Space to ascend to gain some altitude and use WSAD input, even engage the parking brake to avoid the wheel noises.
  6. note there is thuster sound during input even when the hydrogen thruster is not, and can't be, in use because none of WASD correspond to a direction that the thruster serves.

I am surprised to see such an issue would go unnoticed for so many years, unless its somethingh new.

So basicaly if there is a thruster on a grid it will make sounds, even if its offline and not used in the actual propulsion of the grid.

Sounds like somebody took a shortcut :D
