Normal Hydrogen Thrusters using Custom Gas Unintentionally

Ensou Art shared this bug 5 years ago
Outdated

When Creating a custom GasProperties, Normal hydrogen-based Thrusters tends to recognize it as valid.

Steps to recreate:

Create Custom Gas, Custom Tank

Add Custom Thruster to Custom Gas Tank. then Add Normal Hydrogen Thruster makes the normal thruster recognize the new gas as valid even though it shouldn't

Same goes on reverse:

when adding a custom thruster to an existing hydrogen thruster system, new thruster which requires different gas recognizes hydrogen as valid.

Bug doesnt happen if you place the normal hydro thruster alone with the new gas tank. the same happens in reverse (placing new thruster on old gas tank)

Greetings,

I am having the same issue.

The link to the following mod creates a new gas, "Water" to power steam based thrusters.

I noticed the issue appeared recently, when a modded Hydrogen thruster would no longer accept hydrogen.

I then placed a standard Keen hydrogen thruster on the conveyor network, and it consumed the water resource as well.

This makes making custom gas-powered thrusters unable to work reliably alongside hydrogen thrusters and vice versa. This is 100% reproducible with the highly popular Industrial Overhaul mod (https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2344068716) as well when using Hydrogen thrusters alongside Rocket thrusters (which normally use rocket fuel, a custom gas that the mod defines) on the same grid. Depending on what order the thrusters are added to the grid, one type of thruster ends up assuming the identity of the other type of thruster and starts using its fuel type, rejecting its own fuel type.

Keen please fix this! :(

Can we at least get this bug acknowledged? The "Outdated" label doesn't do this thread justice. I see many silly reports with 1 vote getting more attention than this...

And maybe we can see a fix in the horizon? It's been 3 years since it was first reported...

You might have to make a new topic, but the issue should had been fixed by now.

I'm getting the feeling that this is getting completely ignored because this bug only surfaces when using mods. You need a custom gas and thruster to begin testing... But it is still a bug and needs to be fixed. Repro steps have been provided in the OP and I've linked a mod they can easily use as an example and mentioned the relevant block types they need to test.

But if they want to avoid using mods for bug testing, it shouldn't take too much effort to define their own custom gas and a custom thruster and tank for testing. I can even help by doing it for them. I can make a lean "mod" (just an .sbc or two) that defines just this stuff so they don't have to do it, but right now they're not even replying to the ticket.

I created a new ticket with some more detailed repro steps to see if it will get any more attention...
