Hello,

Thank you for your feedback. Is it still happening? This issue can be caused by Steam server overload or by some your local settings. Are you able to play Space Engineers in multiplayer? (Just to be sure it is not forbidden in your firewall settings).

Kind Regards

This was on singleplayer and from Main Menu while trying to upload a world, No servers involved. I have 65 workshop submissions from before so I clearly was able to upload at one point, I played online servers almost exclusively for a year and a half but there was nothing to do with servers in this situation. This bug persists.

Please fix this, I want to upload my recreation of a KC-135 NOW!!!!!!

I would like to add some info here:

In my case I am able to upload / or re-upload SOME of my blueprints to the Steam Workshop. However, I have other blueprints which consistently fail to upload or re-upload to update existing Workshop items.

Here is what I have tried so far :

1) Yes I have tried all items below with Steam cloud enabled and disabled.

2) I have tried uploading a completely new creation to the Steam Workshop, this worked as expected.

3) I have tried re-uploading an item that was in my workshop already with and without new modifications. This worked for SOME blueprints but not others.

4) For one of the blueprints that failed. I attempted to delete it from the workshop and then re-upload it as a new workshop item. This FAILED.

5) I then pasted a copy into a test world, deleted my local copy of the blueprint and made sure I had no related items in my blueprint menu. I then re-made the blueprint locally from the copy in my world and attempted to re-upload. This FAILED.

6) I have also tried verifying my game files via steam.

I will attach the affected blueprints:

The blueprint I deleted from Steam Workshop is the Model 200-A.

The other affected blueprint, has a version still uploaded to steam workshop, and can be found here:

Any and all help is appreciated.

NOTE: Yes I have tried resetting ownership in every case.

The same thing happened to me right after update 1.188. The day before I was uploading things fine but now it fails to upload and also updating local blueprints doesn't work either.

I have tried reinstalling, restarting pc and modem and disabling all mods. I can still join online servers.

Same issue, made a blueprint a few days ago and it refuses to publish to workshop when I tried a few minutes ago. I was able to make a copy of the grid and publish that blueprint, but of course this means I no longer have the custom thumbnail I created, and I cannot update the blueprint by making a copy from clipboard and publishing it over the top of the previous blue print.

Whatever the devs did to 'improve the blueprint menu' has completely broken it- GG, well played. FFS.

actually apparently its valve, I heard this on the KSH discord and went back to b4 the update that broke it (the MP one) and it still has that issue.

photo

I find it more likely that something fundamental about SE broke and is now conflicting with the Steam workshop, regardless of which version of the game you use ( roll back to previous update etc ). I mean, it's KSH- when don't they break stuff and blame something else...

Hi Keen Team!

AH! I fixed your problem in a few seconds.

1 - REDO your Blueprints > aim at it and hit Ctrl+B

2 - Change the name > use a smaller name > "Bee worker"

3 - Publish the new Bp

= Tetsted OK =

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1555763236

_________

Causes :

> Name too long

> 2 files had to be deleted in the bp folder :

1- bp.SbcB1

2- bp.metadatta.mod

__________________________________________

Conclusion = Bad save

I republished your "broken" bp = all good with my fix

P.S.

I've used Daniel Barrett 's bp in the above post.

photo

Another way to fix with steps :

1 - Create a new Empty world.

2 - Paste your Blueprint in.

3 - Aim at it and hit Ctrl+B

>> that will open the Bp menu for you to change the name of the new Bp > click the "edit" button, click the "rename" button, change the name for "My test" and click OK.

4 - Close the Bp menu.

5 - Exit the world and reload the same world.

6 - Hit F10, find your new Bp "My test" and hit the "edit" button.

7 - Publish to the Workshop.

size of my tumbnails are at > 500 to 917 kb = and published OK

Tried all of the above- somehow randomly managed to get one blueprint to publish, but as before was unable to update the published blueprint in order to use a custom thumbnail. Blue Print menu continues to be overly complex, laggy and more importantly- FUBAR.

Expedite fix please.

photo

I've also noticed the freezes when in the Blueprints menu F10.

Tho I've tried a "custom thumbnail", that one thumb.png was at 917 kb and published OK.

photo

Update: I rolled the game back to the previous version 1.186 and ...

it works perfectly, blueprint published first time, complete with the custom thumbnail ( .png ).

The current BluePrint menu is broken, that's all it is- it isn't broken for everyone though, and some blueprints can be uploaded if you do a special dance whilst hopping on one leg and holding a magic gourd. If it was broken for everyone then fine, but since it only affects certain blueprints... how very, very annoying...

SOLVED:

It's the thumbnails. Cannot upload to workshop with thumbs sizing larger than 1mb. I have a 4k monitor so my thumbs come out kind of big I guess. After a bunch of twiddling and compressing I got everything working.

Resizing the thumb.png file resolved it for me. I was able to upload a 600MB blueprint with a thumb at 956KB successfully and a 1MB blueprint with a thumb at 705KB. But I couldn't upload a different 1MB blueprint with a 1.2MB thumb. Resizing that thumb to within the appropriate range immediately resolved this.

Wow, thank you guys lots. Was having a lot of trouble publishing, turns out it was the thumbnail size, it kept failing until i took the screenshot at 720p and that worked like a charm!

this is so weird, we all seem to kind of have different symptoms, some of us can kinda-sorta upload while for some (me) it flat-out doesn't work, I can still upload screenshots, artwork (although it appears to be taken down after a while, unless I have dementia),

Above is a snip of what the blueprint file of an artillery crawler I want to upload an updated anniversary version of looks like

Update: you I found that you can upload if the blueprint doesn't have a picture with it. If you have the blue print in your clipboard and go to no menu and hit "create from clipboard", you can upload that but it sucks bc you're stuck with the blue spot where there would be a picture. I think it has something to do with the aspect ratio of the monitor

photo

It's an issue with the size of the thumbnail- anything over 1MB won't work, you have to create a new/custom one and resize it down to less than 1MB, then it works fine. The fact it's been over 6 months with no fix is rather... disappointing...

photo
1

I got my image file size down to 16kb, it still didn't upload

photo
1

Oh wow, that's a thing then- it might be worth checking the integrity of the files, or maybe even uninstalling and redownloading the whole game :-/

photo
1

same issue only uploads if i delete thumbnail before i publish, and then my creation has no thumbnail pic, which deletes the purpose of sharing it on the workshop, i have 30+ front page builds, so its not like i dont know how to upload to the WS, yes my Custom made thumbnails are below 1mb, i even tried to use a tiny 1kb thumbnail still doesnt work, get the failed to upload error

photo
1

Just to let people know, I have just managed to upload a BP thanks to comments here, by reducing the 720 Thumbnail to a 480 (it was like 1.2MB before resizing).

I'm afraid I don't know what information about my system could be useful... I'm running 64-bit Windows 8.1?

photo

i also checked game file integrity, reinstalled the game, nothing changes

photo
1

changing to jpeg doesnt help for me either, if i delete the thumbnail before i publish, it uploads to WS but with no thumbnail, which deletes the purpose to share on the WS, yes every thumbnail i try is below 1MB, i even tried compressing it 1kb, still get "failed to upload" error, i check game integrity files, all fine, i even reinstalled, still cant upload without failed to upload error, i have 30+ frontpage builds, so its not like im a noob to uploads to the WS......im very salty over this, and it seems im not the only one with this issue

photo

I believe it actually has something to do with aspect ratio of the picture, I imagine this would be the same as the aspect ratio of your monitor.

photo
1

1080 monitor, but ive upload 60+ creations to workshop before , same aspect ratio, never had a issue until now, im not alone with this issue, there is a very small amount with exact same issue, only works if you remove the thumbnail completely for BP folder, any form of thumbnail in the BP folder gets the "failed to upload" error to the workshop. No matter the size, shape, PNG, JPEG, ive tried 1kb thumbs to 1mb thumb, still dont work

photo
1

I have the same issue as Andrew. Only by deleting the Thumbnail am I able to upload. Unfortunately you can not change your thumbnail after the publish.

photo
2

I used to be able to upload, but recently had a lot of issues. Can be that some additional limits where introduced on Steam side. But there is also something what Keen (given importance of build sharing for the game) should do also. From what I see if thumbnail is larger than 1MB there is very good chance that upload will fail. With current implementation size of thumbnail depends on game resolution which was used when thumbnail was taken. I had to go from fullscreen 4K to window 1920x1200 to get blueprint upload working with screenshot multiplier x1. That is also not working 100%. Depends how much details are in picture (more details - less compression). I think it was good idea to make BP creation flow easier to use, but in that case game should also take care of resizing and (if needed) reducing quality of picture so file becomes of appropriate size.

Hello gary!

I appreciate this thread is quite old. Is this still an issue? We have had a number of updates since your posting so hopefully, this is resolved on the latest version. Can I ask you to retest this on 197.170

Kind Regards
