Flickering lights

Jonathan Friedman shared this bug 2 years ago
Solved

I have a large ship with many subgrids. The lights flicker badly all over the ship. I've attached the save game folder if you could take a look.

My PC is Windows 10 (19041.985) 64bit x64-based CPU

CPU is Intel Xeon (X5675 @ 3.07GHz) -- air cooled; not overclocked

16GB RAM

Video card is GeForce GTX 1060 6GB DirectX12 -- air cooled; not overclocked

I'm running the latest Space Engineers with all the DLC (no mods).

Thank you for your time. I'd really love to get this fixed. My son and I enjoy building and playing, but the flickering is just too awful for us to continue.

Hello, Jonathon!

Sorry to hear you're having this issue. The save you provided did have mods in but I removed them and still found the issue was there. I have reproduced this and reported it internally.

Kind Regards

Hello, Jonathan!

Thank you again for your report, unfortunately I have to inform you that this issue won't be fixed. According to our programmers, this is a rendering engine limitation because there are too many lights on your ship. There is a rendering limit and when the limit gets exceeded, it causes the engine to selectively not render certain lights. As you turn off some of the lights, the flickering stops.

Thank you for your understanding.
