Sensor bug

EDGE shared this bug 2 years ago
Reported

I recently moved my base just slightly to the right of where I'm currently positioned and re-docked one of my ships fitted with a sensor on it. I noticed that it was picking up on something when there shouldn't be anything it reacts to.

When playing around with the sensors it turns out it's picking up an enemy when there is no enemy in sight.

To the left of my position there are some remnant blocks from my old base position that is covering a hole and a sphere build for the purpose of a projection. Now I build those previously so I can't understand why it's identifying them as enemy.

Attaching Save

Instructions: Access the "Sensor" in front of you and turn "Detect Enemy" on. Wile "Enemy detection" is on, slide the Right extension out to detect those blocks. Now remove does blocks and check the sensor again.

Hello, EDGE!

Sorry to hear you're experiencing this issue. I have been looking into this and would it please be possible to provide a screenshot of the exact position with 'enemy' it is picking up? I don't appear to have anything showing up from the sensors relating to what you have described.

Kind Regards

Added picture of them now and tried to make the instructions more presise:

Instructions:

1. Access the "Sensor" in front of you and turn "Detect Enemy" on at the bottom of the list.

2. Wile "Enemy detection" is on, slide the Right extension out to detect those blocks, to about 25. It should now detect those blocks as enemy.

3. Turning enemy detection off at this point will make the sensor stop sensing anything.

4. You could, instead of turning enemy detection off, remove does blocks and check the sensor again to see that there is no enemy detection again.

Note: I'm not sure if the save file includes this so It might also help if you go to the "Info tab" and turn "Show sensor field range" on, and also make sure that the sensor has "Show on hub" on. This way when you extend the "Right extent" on the sensor you'll see that it's including those blocks and reacting to it.

If your having difficulty let me know and Ill try to create a simpler example and save file.

Hello, EDGE!

Thank you for the further instructions. For me, the sensor doesn't appear to be picking up those blocks that are pictured. I had assumed it was those ones but wanted to be sure. If there is another example of a save file you have or could create, that would be a huge help!

Kind Regards

Ok, so I've disconnected the ship and put it in direct line with the blocks. It has Enemy detection on and should therefore detect it as enemy as you load in. If you now turn "enemy detection" off on the "sensor" it should stop sensing the blocks as It did for me.

Adding pictures to show that this is at least happening for me.

Note: In case you disconnect from the ship it's activated by remote.

Hello, EDGE!

Thank you very much for the further information and screenshots! That was a huge help :)

I have successfully reproduced the issue and reported it internally.
