Won't Fix

Hi

Very frustrated game not working for months.

It was working in 1440p but have tried downgrading to 1080p in case that is an issue.

I have tried most things

complete re-install after uninstall followed deleting appdata folder, temp files

re-install directx

re-install .net

Checked local file integrity

reviewed virtual memory (but I have 32 gb of ram so should not be an issue)

Compared log file to working system but no errors in log file

Nothing in saved folder. Cannot attach config file but as below

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>

Hello, Torick!

Sorry to hear you're experiencing this issue. Could you possibly give a little more information? Was the game running at some point previously? If so, is this after an update or upgrade of your setup? Are you getting a black screen once you start the game? When exactly does this occur? Or are you not even seeing a black screen appear? Would it be possible to run Windows Event Viewer when the crash takes place? (If a crash is actually occuring)

You can try to add parameter (-skipintro) in Steam - SE - Properties - General - Launch Options.

steamwebhelper_MFMxp3d0ay

This is working for some players.

Another possible workaround working for some is this: locate your ":\Steam\SteamApps\common\SpaceEngineers\Content\Videos" folder and either delete it completely, or rename the "Videos" folder.

Please let me know how you get on.

Kind Regards

Hi

I replied to the email you but it did not get added top the comments>

Here is what I said

Hi Laura

Thanks for getting back to me.

Further background info

Yes I was getting to the black screen just before the Keene splash screen.

The game was working before, I have spent over 500 hours playing the game. Love it bought all the SDLCs to help with development.

My system before was an i7 7700. Not sure when things stopped working. I upgraded cpu, motherboard and ram but still did not work.

I tried putting in a Geforce 1070 but still had the same issue. The 1070 works fine on my son's pc.

I have upgraded the geforce drivers, .net is 4.8, direct x drivers have been updated as well.

So my conclusion was this was a software / system configuration issue.

I was comparing logs on my son's machine and my pc to try and find the problem.

I did check event viewer and saw some errors when I start the game but I noticed the same errors on my son's pc where it works.

I will add screen shots from my pc.

0?ui=2&ik=03617fc43e&attid=0

0?ui=2&ik=03617fc43e&attid=0

For your suggestions I applied both and I got further in the start up process. I get the warning message that the graphics for SE has changed and that it will set all options to medium.

After this my graphics card seems to crash according to the error message

0?ui=2&ik=03617fc43e&attid=0

My graphics card is running at 60 degrees so fine for me.

My next option was going to be to upgrade the graphics card though now is not the time to be buying a graphics card.

However as with my son's Geforce 1070 it still does not work this does not seem to be the issue.

I hope we can solve this. I have a dedicated server for SE which I am unable to use /1f641

Thanks in advance

Hello, Torick!

Thank you for letting me know you had replied :)

Thank you also for the further information. Is it possible to reply to this comment rather than via email? I am unable to see any of your screenshots, unfortunately. There are also a few reports of graphic card errors currently on the forum. Are you experiencing the issue with other applications?

Kind Regards
