Gattling Turrets damage own grids

Shawn Jones shared this bug 5 years ago
Reported

Gattling turrets will damage own grids even when the option to disable friendly turrets from damaging their own grids is enabled. It needs a hotfix ASAP as it is very annoying.

Turrets damaging their own grid has been an issue since day one- they've been fixed 3 or 4 times over the last 5 years; one day, Keen might actually learn how to set collision volume/hit box vs projectile path and make sure the two don't intersect on the same grid while under AI control. Your issue is a new one seemingly, no idea how that managed to get broken but yay, space engineers and poor QA testing ftw.

I had this problem too but it was only caused by modded weapons. Do you use any weapon mods?

It does it in a vanilla game state.

Ditto for me weather its vanilla or modded all bullet type weapons ignore that option.

Hello, Engineers!

Thank you for reporting your issue we were able to reproduce it and it was reported.

Although please note that the option "Enable turret damage" isn't meant to enable damage of gatling or missile turrets by themselves. It is supposed to enable damage from missile turret explosions.

So there are two bugs right here: 1) Turrets damaging their own grids 2) Wrong option name and tooltip.

Thank you for reporting this. Both issues will be solved.

Kind Regards

I am having this as well on a small grid ground vehicle. I am running without mods. Wolves close on my car and it shoots its own wheels off, suspensions and all. If I might make two suggestions, the first being an option for minimum targeting range, to stop them shooting at point blank targets and hitting their own grid. The second would be to either reduce the knockback on small grid gatlings, or let us put interior turrets on small grids. Its kind of hard to loot a wolf when it lands a kilometer away...

Turret was behaving normally then they started to damage same grid. Please make it all more clear what your intention is on that issue. Thanks!

To help fix this partially, a setting on the turret could be add to adjust the target cone, I think it's actually around 200 degree, I would like to reduce some of my turret like under 170 to prevent them firing on the next turret beside it or the roof on my station.

Hi Keen Team!

Players are still having problems with that and had to delete a lot of turrets to avoid problems.

I had to redo a lot of my ships. too … I hope you will have time to fix this one soon.

this problem still happens. when my grid with weapons spot an enemy behind my other grid it shot straight through it. also happens when docked.
