Problem even start Joining Modded Server (STEAM)

R-TEAM shared this bug 2 years ago
Won't Fix

Hi,

have read over problems on joining server with X amount of mods ...

This is not exactly the problem "i" have seen here ....

I run an server (for 6 years now) and have an different amount of mods on it ..

In the 2016 years it was nearly 180mods peak .. actual (before the problems) 83 ...

Have maked an break over ~3 weeks from SE and come back to start the Server after update/Hotfix 1.197.181 hit ...

All start flawless ... server running (running on my Home - NOT rented) and is ready to connect ..

Start SE game ... find server in the server list ..... click on it .... aaand .... nothing happen - simply

o.k. , i think .. maybe an little problem (was not unexpected after 1 patch and hotfixes > as always :P )

After fiddling 3h with the config .. i was able to join (and then it runs normal)

"My" conclusion ....

Anything prevent the server to register correct on STEAM, so no one can even start joining (to seen that on the server the "password" symbole is here - but the "Experimental Mode" symbole is NOT here - if i can join, both symbole are present as it should)

This looks connected not only to the amount of mods, additionaly to other data that is processed with the mods to STEAM so it get an overflow or semilar ... (mod naming/discription ...)

As i can have full different mods and even mod amount to bring the server ready to connect ...

In the End i stay with 77 mods and then it runs nice (as before) and i hoped for an fix in the next time ...

Now ...

After the actual Update Patch 1.198.027 ... it is going more worse ...

Now it get ready to connect only with 71 mods ...................................

And dont ask -> no error in the server log file (as it runs fine) and nothing on the client log - as he simply even start to connect...

Regards

Hello, R-TEAM,

thanks for coming here to share your concern. Currently we have some problems with mods on servers, and there has been introduced hotfix/workaround for now for this issue.

You need to have just couple of mods (or even one empty mod published on Workshop) and add all other mods that you want to use on the server, as dependencies to this one. The hotfix/workaround is in the fact, that dependencies are not counted as mods in the game. This way you can have even high number of mods on the game, while the actual "used mods number" will stay low (preferably on 1 :) ). The server shall start normally leaving players able to connect.

Also please note that there is cap in the number of characters in server details - it´s 200.

Please try this and let me know if it is working for you.

Kind Regards

Hello, Engineer!

Because there is no new comment from you, and we are unable to reproduce the issue on our own, I will close this thread now as outdated.

If you or any other player will experience this issue again, please make a new thread and provide all needed info there.

Thank you for understanding.
