You can build all the basic stuff with materials refined out of rock and you can recycle the medical components from your droppods survival kit for the survial kit of your first base.

And if you location really sucks that much you can restart the world.

You can't really restart the public servers. I wrote the original post thinking about how it takes hours of checking asteroids to find cobalt, for example. I'd like the game to be more bit-by-bit. Currently, if you don't do an eight hour rush your progress will most likely be lost because your base will be griefed overnight.

I can understand this to be a problem starting in space. I usually start on earthlike planets. You can search ressources on them without the need of oxygen bottles and less energy consumtion. I cannot say much about puplic servers in this regard. I do like building huge structures both on planets and in space so those servers with build limit arent really my thing. Only thing i really wished that ore sensors would have far increased scan range. I mean 150 meters range for a sensor build on a base. Even mods dont go above 300 meters or something.

The build limit isn't really the problem, you can gather a bunch of friends and build some big stuff. The problem is griefers. It is possible to abuse the spawn system in a way that allows griefers to find and destroy everything you have built. So you must rush to get a safe zone before your first disconnection or else it's likely that all you have built will be destroyed overnight. Hours are wasted finding materials in this critical stage.
