Cannot publish mods

Guest shared this bug 3 years ago
Solved

Since 16th March I cannot publish

  • new versions of my existing mod
  • any new mod, not even an empty skeleton one

Relevant client log lines

For updating my existing mod:

2021-03-17 19:26:39.135 - Thread: 1 -> Error during publishing: Timeout

2021-03-17 19:26:39.135 - Thread: 1 -> Info: Workshop item with id 2415983416 update finished. Result: k_EResultTimeout

For updating a new mod with private visibility:

2021-03-17 23:35:02.555 - Thread: 1 -> Info: Failed to create new workshop item. Result: k_EResultTimeout / False

2021-03-17 23:35:02.556 - Thread: 1 -> Error during publishing: Timeout

This is a blocker for me.

Attached Test mod which failed to install. I don't think it is anything with the contents.

On Steam I cannot find any support topic which would be relavant for this issue. They direct me to game support, here.

Thank you for looking,

Viktor

Cannot publish worlds, nor blueprints. Same timeout error. Any idea? How can I report it to Steam? No such topic in their support system, I cannot get a ticket through either. Please suggest.

Hello, Viktor!

Sorry you're experiencing this issue. I have double-checked your mod and can upload it without issue. I see you have since posted that you are having an issue with blueprints too meaning it isn't isolated to just the mod. Could you please try the following firstly -

  • Verify your game files in Steam
  • Right click on Space Engineers in Steam Library → Properties → Local Files → Verify Integrity of Game Files

/bfSnH0rGoN-NgctSWBJN3LfvWZvgnfye9BrPgucxV0n8TDpNc-7yZYwSifdRXyl1quu20KGUNmHzSf6VGRbhWS4a_EYn2MclxJSOz6eVarmz-fhTWVaofVOAVZN_l_leF9dgQ5GF

  • Delete SpaceEngineers.cfg file
  • It means your game configuration will be deleted
  • You can access your SpaceEngineers.cfg by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers.
  • Delete ShaderCache folder
  • Back up your whole Space Engineers Roaming folder and delete it
  • Restart Steam
  • Reinstall VC Redist 2017
  • Update graphic drivers
  • Reinstall the game
  • Make sure your operating system is fully updated

Kind Regards

I've tried all the above steps except of the graphics driver update (I have to use older driver due to VR in other games). The graphics driver has nothing to do with this anyway.

None of the above steps helped.

I see the same problem happening on two separate machines while using my main account.

Publishing works with my secondary account (semods), which I use only for multiplayer testing. But I don't want to use that one for publishing, because that's not well-known.

Please let me know whether my Steam account is blocked from publishing workshop items for Space Engineers (mods, blueprints, worlds).

Today the issue has resolved itself. No change on my part. I guess something got fixed with an update or Steam figured that my account is indeed broken. Not sure what happened, but publishing works again.

Hello Viktor!

Thank you for updating us on this. Nothing was changed on your part? That's interesting to know as there are a few reports now of others with this issue! I'm glad you have resolved this and also uploaded your Cosmic pink block :) Happy modding!

Kind Regards

The Pink Block wasn't me. That was Stratos, another modder hit by the same bug. That's how I knew I wasn't alone with this issue.

You can close this ticket now. Hopefully the bug won't come back.
