Visual Scripting Tool crashes on launch

Michael shared this bug 3 years ago
Solved

Installed the VST v.142 this morning and it worked fine.

Came back to it this evening and it crashes before the splash screen disappears.

I've tried reinstalling the SDK and the error persists. Not sure where to look for the crash log file?

UPDATE 1: Executing Bin64/VRageEditor.exe loads the software (but no profile selected)

UPDATE 2: Executing the VisualScripting.bat file after changing the name of the profile inside also loads the software with no profile selected. Guessing the error is coming from a mistake in the user profile? Any way to reset it?

UPDATE 3: Started the software using Bin64/VRageEditor.exe then loaded in the VST plugin from the VRage Tools > Plugins menu. Was able to create a new world, compile, and run so it would seem like the error is not an issue with the editor but the profile loading. I think it's looking for an Objective Script that no longer exists

Hello, Michael,

thanks for letting us know about you issue. However it is not happening to me. VS tool launch properly and I can work in it without any issues.

Is it still broken with same behavior for you? Even after various game fixes/updates that happen recently?

Did you also try to reintall whole game and do a clean install of Space Engineers - Mod SDK app? Is the SpaceEngineersModSDK file stored properly in Steam folder on the same place as game Space Engineers folder?

Thanks for the info.

Kind Regards

Fully uninstalled, reinstalled, and verified both Space Engineers v1.197.170 and VS Tool v146 and the error persisted

However, I got fed up and just deleted the VRageEditor directory from AppData/Roaming at the problem has disappeared

Hi,

so am I understanding it right that you manage to fix it on your own? And the VS tool is running properly for you?

Can I close this thread?

Kind Regards
