Wheel steering is temporarily disabled when updating suspension strength

Tudor Versoiu shared this bug 3 years ago
Reported

Updating suspension strength from a programmable block renders steering unusable for a few ticks. (I don't know about updating it from the in game menu because I haven't been able to test).

Updating suspension strength EVERY tick makes the steering completely unusable.

Updating suspension strength every 10 ticks makes the steering work for only 2-3 ticks at a time intermittently and inconsistently.

Also, spamming A and D seems to make the situation better(when updating every 10 ticks).

More specifically, updating suspension strength seems to make the game forget that you have the button pressed.

Hello Versoiu!

Thank you for reporting this issue. Would it please be possible to supply a video of this happening? Also, some reliable steps to reproduce this issue would be a great help!

Kind Regards

Yes, I have found some reliable steps to reproduce.

Hop into a vehicle with at least a wheel. Set steering override to some value so the wheel steers.

Now from the terminal, adjust suspension strength for that wheel.

The wheel will reset steer to 0 until it gets updated through some kind of user input(for example, pressing W).

Make sure to have visual on the wheel while doing that so the effect is clear(transparent UI would be an option).

This may not seem like a huge thing, but it breaks scripts that mess with wheel strength.

Here is also a short video on the issue.

Again, it's not a big deal, but it breaks scripts that mess with suspension strength.

Hello Versoiu!

Thank you for the steps and video. I have been testing this on a few different blueprints and just want to double-check with you. Are you talking about the time where after straightening it takes a second to almost pop back to the angle? The delay in between? Please see the attached clip.

Kind Regards

Yes, that's the issue, and I don't think it should be straightening in the first place.
