[1.194.083][DS] Strong unknown Signals appear to cause lags and rubberbands

Solved

Hello there,

since Frostbite update we noticed huge lags on our server even though the simulation speed was still 1.0 on a freshly generated world with 32 players online.

After digging a bit we found out that this appears to be related to Strong Unknown Signals. Whenever a signal spawned the rubberbands and laggs started with no apparent reason explained by simulation speed. However as soon as this signal was gone it returned to normal. Turning signals off got rid of these issues.

In the discords of Keen and Torch I found a few reports about that also. Apparently Glass Wire shows that network traffic increases drastically from the point the Strong unknown Signals spawned and returns back to normal as soon as the signal is gone.

See the screenshot of the analysis.

If for whatever reason Network goes hellfire whenever a signal spawns the cause of rubberbands are most likely lost packages which explains why the simulation speed seems unaffected by this.

Also it probably explains why servers with only a hand full of players wont see any problems. It appears to be scaling with the amount of players online.

According to inflex it could be a problem with excessive re-sending of data or something since Strong signals are seen by everyone. However it would require some testing to be sure.

Our Server runs on an

intel core I9 9900k

64GB of ram

runs on a gigabit internet connection.

Please fix :-)

Experienced the exact same issue on our server. Had about 30 people on over the weekend and it became completely unplayable despite maintaining close to a 1.0 sim. Disabled drop containers after reading your comments on the Torch discord and it instantly fixed the issue.

Annoying though as we kinda relied on them as a consistent avenue for distributing tiered tech parts.
