Ion Thrusters Disabled

Nicholas Stanfill shared this bug 5 years ago
Won't Fix

I was flying around space on a mini small-grid miner I built for an easy space start. It was powered by a battery and propelled by small ion thrusters.

I accelerated to 65m/s towards a distant asteroid and turned off my dampeners. When I was approaching the asteroids I enabled the dampeners and found the ion thrusters disabled.

The thrusters are on, the battery is on auto, all thrusters in all directions were disabled, the battery had 6 days worth of power.

Turning the battery on recharge and back to auto did not fix it. Pressing 'Y' twice to cycle power did not fix it. Turning the ion thrusters on and off did not fix it.

I gave up. Restarting after 20 minutes or cutting and pasting the grid is a temporary solution I didn't try because I don't want to have to do that every 20 minutes.

Moved on to creative for script testing.

Same thing happened to me, tried thrust override, no response. tried cycling all my power providers, Y on/off, gyros, everything i could think off. This is on a survival DS so the parts are gone making me want to not recommend this game to anyone else due to frustration

How much power your grid was eating and how much producing? You cant power up bigass thing iwth electricity-hungry engines with 1 smol battery. It will fail to power up all engines at once, resulting in no thrust

My mini small-grid miner could have all the thruster overrides on maximum and still only use 70% power

Similar issue in my game. Large grid ship (modified new survival pod). We've added some hydrogen thrusters to it and connected a small grid via a connector to eject gravel. Ions are completely non-responsive.... like they're turned off even though everything says they are on.

When trying to move in a direction that has only ions for that direction I can hear the sound as though they are firing but there is no blue flame and no acceleration at all.

Hello, Michael!

Unfortunately, when testing, I´m still not able to make it happen.

Can you specify the conditions under what it is happening to you, please?

Is it happening to you when playing single player, local MP (Lobby), on dedicated server or on public one.

Can you also please share the blueprint of the ship that is already known and proven that it is suffering with this issue?

Also a video of the bug happening might be really nice to start with, so I can clearly see what you do prior this issue happens.

Thanks for providing necessary info in advance.

Kind Regards

I think I still encounter this bug, happened after docking and undocking my small grid ship from a station. Not sure how to reproduce though because most of the time it doesn't happen.

Only way to fix was just restarting the game with no alteration whatsoever to the ship.

I'm happy to provide more details if needed

Greetings, fellow engineers.

A friend of mine and me encounter the same issue on a regular basis. Small grid thrusters suddenly stop working and have kind of a rubberband-y effect on them. We suspect that this issue has something to do with connectors and/or landing gears present on the same grid.

Game-version: 1.193.021

Was this issue addressed?

I am having this issue today, and even after restarting the game the thrusters will not work. Replaced thrusters, turned them on and off, turned gyroscopes on and off, turned remote control and antenna on and off, replaced antenna and remote control... nothing seems to work. It's just a dead ship now.

Same here, we encounter this issue on occasion when connectors are involved. The instant the connector is attached the thrusters loose all thrust. This has happened with atmospheric thrusters as well. This happened on a DS, and a server restart fixes the problem until it happens again.

Every time it happened, it was a ship owned by one player in a faction connecting to something owned by another player in the same faction. Haven't seen it happen when connecting to your own stuff.

Hello, Engineers!

Because there is no new comment from you, and we are unable to reproduce the issue on our own, I will close this thread now as outdated.

If you or any other player will experience this issue again, please make a new thread and provide all needed info there.

Thank you for understanding.

Kind Regards

Still happening, my thruster just lose all thrust. Reload and it does it again. Once was able to delete thrusters and replace, fixed it but then did it again after a few minutes
