Unable to paint "Faction" ships if another player owns majority of blocks

You are not able to paint ships if another player owns the majority of blocks, even if in the same faction. I understnd this was intended to help with greifing, but players in the same faction should not be restricted like this.
Reproduce:
- Player 1 and Player 2 are in the same faction.
- Player 1 and Player 2 build a ship together.
- Player 1 and Player 2 start painting the ship.
- Issue: Only a single player will be able to paint the ship (the "majority" owner).
Suggestion(s):
- Allow players in same factions to paint each other ships.
- Add an option (game settings, or anywhere!) to disable this "paint greifing protection" for cooperative servers/game.

Under normal circumstances, I would be patient and wait for a fix, but the fact that Keen is selling what amounts to "paint packs" in the steam store that are 100% unusable in multiplayer for any grid your faction owns that isn't "yours", is ridiculous.
In order to actually use your special textures, I need to play single player where no one can see what I build OR destroy whatever my faction has made and recreate it so I "own" the grid so I can paint it. That's insane.
You're selling DLC we can't use. This needs to be fixed.

I don't really agree with this statement, I don't always want people in my faction painting my own ship, there were enough issues with players in the same faction paint-griefing in pink other people's ships so I want this feature to stay in the game

This needs a good hard bump, and more upvotes. Keens selling paints but dont supply the options to allow multiplayer control over those paints. The fact that one person has to be in total control over the grid in order to paint is silly, and really pushes players to build solo rather than with their factions.

Just found this and I really need this game option to happen. I'm now having an issue where a ship I've been working on for 2 years can now only be painted by one of my friends after we've built a ton of gyroscopes. This ship is around 20,000 blocks and someone after a few hours of help they can paint it, but I can't. :(

this is a cool mod i just found, because I was annoyed too.
