Frostbite Gate is airtight when open

Kingdom shared this bug 4 years ago
Solved

As it says in the title, there's no loss of pressure when the gates are opened in a vacuum

Limitation of our system. Gate not supported by the system, so set to be airtight for both open/close.

I don't understand how that can be the case given that your own vanilla door, sliding door, and airtight hangar door work. Not to mention the new offset door and literally tens of mod gate blocks which also manage to work?

I echo Kingdom's comment- every other vanilla door respects airtightness, as does every modded door I've seen or played with; I refuse to believe your programmers can't figure it out. Hell, throw Spacebar $10 and I imagine he'll have it fixed in a day. If you truly can't fix it, atleast add a glowing force-field effect across the opening to simulate a startrek/starwars force-field that magically holds in the air.

What the hell? I'm sorry, but why did you even put it in the dlc if you can't even implement it properly?

I bought the DLC on launch but haven't played it yet. I might refund it if this is how lazy they are to fix their stuff...

If you're going to keep it bugged and don't plan on fixing it then at least add a light shimmer to make it looks like some forceshield keeping the air in, and add some additional power draw when open or something.

As Kingdom said, all other doors manage to switch between airtight/not airtight. A door that remains airtight even when open could be seen as a feature by some and so this could be seen as pay to win, as this "feature" is exclusive to this DLC.

Hello, Engineers!

Thank you for your feedback. This is a current implementation of Gate due to limitation of our system, however we are discussing with our programmers and considering changes. We will inform you about any potential Gate adjustments.

Thank you for your patience.

Thank You for considering Keen.

Someone already published a mod to deal with this.

The limitation being that you can't place block behind or in front of the Gate directly.

That would be a nice fix.

It's not like we are not already used to the block placement limitation when it comes to Windows / Half blocks / catwalk.

Hi,

We prefer solution where front/back mount points are still there and we are working on that solution.

Thanks for the feedback

Not working :-(

It works for me. Gates are now airtight only when closed, as expected and not always airtight (which was the problem) .

Guys, hotfix 194.080 is out. Please test it and let us know. Thank you!

I seem to have a problem with these doors. I have a hangar bay on a large grid. The hangar bay is a huge airlock and a a large airtight hangar door along the complete side wall. This starts out sealed and air tight. I depressurise

and I can open the hangar doors and close them and repressurise.

However, when I open the gate and then close and try to repressurise the vent goes green with one light and doesn't move from this position. This actually impacts the hole grid not just this enclosed section.

For information the timers that complete the repressurisation close the doors and lock them (by turning them off once closed). I do not know if itt is the act of turning the gate off that is causing the issue - I can test if if you require.

Just to add if I save, exit and reload it is airtight and pressurised as soon as it loads - Room is already in that state as it loads

Thanks for the fix, pressurisation is working as intended now. Losing the mount points is preferable to being always pressurised. Despite the initial disheartening response, thanks for the quick turn around on this

I just tested on my end too and I see no apparent problem.

We are used of loosing mount points with catwalk, half blocks / window.

While more mount point are always good, having airtightness on an open gate felt a bit silly.

Thank you very much for considering and changing your mind about the initial "won't fix" :)

Are there any plans to try to bring mountpoints back without affecting airtightness?

That's what they're working on, according to the changelog and what Filip said higher up in the thread. The current behaviour is a hotfix in the meantime.

If it is impossible to build on the front and back of the gate, is it not better to make them 3 blocks wide instead of 5?

Сan put simple blocks of armor and mount them already.

Hello, Engineers!

Frostbite Gate is no longer airtight when open. I'm closing this ticket as Solved.
