Game totally broken since 6th anniversary update

James Biddulph shared this bug 4 years ago
Solved

After the update 193 there are no hills, mountains and the surface of the planet is totally spherical AND about 200 metres lower than normal so if you have craft sitting on the ground they are destroyed when you log into either single player or MP mode on a server, this has totally ruined the game. Why do you not test these updates for such simple and obvious bugs, this is a game buster to say the least. Snapshots of problem, this happens even after new world started.

Same issue, my buildings/things are all floating about 200-300 meters above a completely flat planet/moon.

PlanetGeneratorDefinitions.sbc file in mod causes the issue.

As soon this file is present in mod, the planet surface generation is broken.

Problem exists even when this file has default values in it. Put it into mod and planet suface generation does not work. Existing save games also affected, as planets will be generated withtout elevations/hills and you may spawn into game high in air.

I am using the same mods as I have always used, this problem only started after the update, but I will bow to your comment and try WITHOUT mods then get back to you.

Edit......

Have tried without mods and as you say the landscape reverts back to normal BUT why has this become a problem after the update and not before, does this mean that we cannot use mods in the game now, if so I do not want to play it anymore.

He's not saying the mod is the problem. The base game (update) is the problem. However as he says the specific issue is when mods have the PlanetGeneratorDefinitions.sbc. This is still a game issue that needs to be addressed by Keen, not a mod issue, despite only being present when modded.

playing in a vanilla world, no mods... all planets are totally flat and ships / bases I had on its surface are indeed floating above the "new" surface. Looking at the files, I suspect the obvious name changes in texture files.... Game breaker. I have shut down ALL my public servers pending a fix, i have about 100 VERY UPSET players atm

load a world with modded planets with their own texture names... they are fine. the one planet in the world that isnt modded... completely flat. again, texture file name changes would appear to be the culprit ( typos )

I don't see any typos in any texture file names.

Same names for me as in the screenshot.

those are the new names, different from prior to update on many of them.

Here are some snapshots of the problem. You can see by these that the problem is a game breaker, this happens even after starting a new world.

Was due to a mod, after disabling the relevant mod worlds are back to normal.

Yes I found this BUT it is still a game issue that Keen need to sort out, mods are keeping this game alive at the moment, without them it will not be as popular.

DeepOres for example is one mod that causes issues after update. In case you know mods that affect planet generations ( trees, veins etc) its advisable to disable them. Until Keen fixes the issue.

Problem is in game core not in mods.

I just had to look and I have 12 mods affecting this file :O (however that works, but it has worked fine)
