SE Eating RAM

So the issue I am having is that whenever I connect to a public server, my Space Engineers game starts eating most of my available RAM (at most 11/16 GBs). It is not nearly as bad when I am in single player but it still eats more RAM then usual. This will be even in the middle of no where in space. I am also having loading issues where it will take much longer than usual to load into servers that I have connected to before this issue. Also if I go to disconnect from a server through the game itself, the game completely freezes and I have to restart my computer since it does not let me pull up task manager. If you need any other files let me know.

I'm seeing this too - doesn't seem to happen in single player for me, but it's very obvious when I join a dedicated server, as the game keeps stuttering when my RAM (16GB) is filled and forced to flush.

Including my system specs (there's no edit function as far as I can see):

AMD Ryzen 5 1600X, 16GB DDR4 RAM @ 2666MHz, Radeon Vega 56

Hi, i have a similiar problem.

When i play Space Engineers, it doesen't matter SP/MP. the game uses 12-14GB RAM and it starts lags.

AMD Ryzen 7 3700X, 16GB RAM and nV GTX 1060 6G.

Same Problems.

16GB RAM (3-4gb for windows,)

8GB VRAM


Notice ram fills up faster when spectating and flying around loading in more grid.(RAM dose not go down when i return to character) *The game should unload them if thy are no inside players view range right?

Reconnecting or reloading the world dose not help.

When i close the game it takes along time for the process to disappear from the Task Manager 20-40sec when its the worst(Unable to restart the game until it gone or i killed the process) *RAM usage on the process goes down until the its at 3-4gb range then the process disappears.


This problem has killed allot of joy of the game as it cause my client sim speed going from 1.0 to 0.1 and back withing seconds over and over again.

Force me to NOT explore and stay in my base more or less if i want to play longer session without having to restart the game(average game session MP 45min and around 1-3h in SP before getting this problem)*MP usually have more grids in them

There was a memory leak like that in Beta... I am not sure if it is the same leak though.

I noticed that you use NVIDIA hardware. GeForce Experience is known to override the voxel quality setting to "Extreme", which is active in your config file, and more of a one off screenshot setting than meant for interactive gameplay. You'll notice that once you select the "High" preset in-game, your memory issues will go away.

It's not just NVidia equipment, as I'm using an AMD Radeon R7 360, and still get the leak. There's no GeForce software running here.
