GPU fail/crash

Won't Fix

Over the past couple of days, I have been experiencing multiple GPU fails/crashes. I have diagnosed the problem via event viewer and perfmon /rel on my pc. Weird thing is that it happens only on Space Engineers and only since the new prosperity update. It does not happen on more demanding games like Digital Combat Simulator, Microsoft Flight Simulator, Transportfever 2, etc. These are the only times I've ever experienced GPU crashes on my pc in the 6 years of owning one.

Oh and just to add it doesn't come up with an error in-game or on windows that its crashed, it literally just crashes and monitors go black.

Hello Alfie,

Thank you for reaching out to us on our Support Forum.

Could you please check whether you have an NVIDIA graphics card and if NVIDIA Smooth Motion is enabled?

If so, please try disabling it and check whether the issue persists. NVIDIA Smooth Motion is a relatively new NVIDIA feature and is currently not compatible with Space Engineers 1, which may cause the game to crash.

Please let us know if disabling it resolves the issue.

If the game still crashes after disabling NVIDIA Smooth Motion, or if you are using a different graphics card, please send us the latest game log file (named SpaceEngineers_) from the time the crash occurred so we can investigate further.

  • You can access your log files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers.

Kind Regards,
