Serious Lighting issue

kfc junior shared this bug 21 days ago
Not a Bug

I've always felt that something was unusual with the lighting in SE but couldn't really tell what was wrong about it

After a few testing, I found that most light sources appear to pass through fully sealed and opaque blocks

what happened:

The interior of a completely sealed ship or station becomes illuminated by external light sources, even though there are solid blocks between the light source and the interior space.

that includes:1. Interior lights / other light blocks2. Thrusters while actively thrusting (hydrogen, ion)

I've attached screenshots and a video clip demonstrating the issue.

What disappoints me most is that this feels like a very fundamental and long-standing issue.

Bugs like light bleeding through sealed opaque blocks seriously affects the visual of the game.

At this point it feels like the SE development focus has shifted more toward adding new features and DLC blocks rather than improving and refining core systems and existing issues. Seeing silly graphic problems like this persist for so long is frustrating.

I’m reporting this because I genuinely care about the game and want to see these foundational issues receive more attention and be recognized by the dev team. Thank you

Hello,

Thank you for reaching our forum with this.

As mentioned in the other thread, what you are describing is currently an engine limitation.

As explained in that thread as well this is not something we are able to address within the current engine limitations, so we will be closing this thread as well.

Kind Regards,

Keen Software House: QA Department
