Hello Kyle,

Thank you for sharing the logs and details with us.

To help resolve this issue, please make sure that the required Space Engineers Dedicated Server ports are properly forwarded and not blocked by a firewall or router on the host machine.

We also recommend asking your friend to try connecting to the internet using a different method. For example, if they normally use Wi-Fi, please try switching to a wired connection or a mobile hotspot, or vice versa, and check whether this makes any difference. If a VPN, antivirus, or firewall is in use, please try temporarily disabling it on both the server and the client and test the connection again.

If possible, please also try starting the server once without any MODs enabled and without using custom launch options on either the server or the client, to see whether the connection becomes more stable. This will help rule out any MOD-related or launch option–related factors.

If the issue continues after trying these steps, please share the latest logs, especially from a session where no MODs or custom launch options were used, so we can investigate further.

Thank you for your understanding.

Kind regards,

Hi Keen,

We solved this problem for now it seems and the problems seemed to be coming from VB’s steam deck we performed the following steps to solve this:

Installed protonGE using protonup-qt

And activated it the SE compatibility mode

And checked the “force the use of a specific steam compatibility tool” checkbox

We deleted the SE compatdata in the steamapps folder

We kept using the no threaded steam api for stability on the steam deck

And On start of the game steam started redownloading directx packages

So for we played a game every evening without problems using mods on the server.

Hope this is helpfull for you guys to :)

Hello Kyle,

Thank you for the update.

We’re glad to hear that the issue appears to be resolved on your end. Since no further assistance is needed from our side, we will close this thread now.

Please note that Space Engineers is not officially supported on Steam Deck, and behavior in this environment may vary.

However, if you experience or observe any other issues with the game in the future, please don’t hesitate to contact us again by opening a new thread here on the forum.

Thank you for your understanding.

Happy Engineering!
