Space engineers freezing every 30 minutes, crashes if a hinge is removed

Won't Fix

Hi, I’m reporting a bug that is making playing the game unpleasant.

Every like 30 minutes the game freezes, (animations and sounds keep going) and this state can last for like a minute.

I’ve also noticed that if I place a hinge (like building a custom turret) and then I remove it or let it fall to the ground and get damaged/destroyed or de-spawn, the game crashes.

I’ve already submitted the log trough the recovery alert message (although maybe that one was into a modded save).

This append regardless of the mods, I’ve even created new save with no experimental features, reinstalled the game and verified files. It keeps happening.

I’ve seen similar posts but I do not have any vpn installed that can conflict with the game, my specs are well over recommended ones, ram usage never peaks over 50% while playing or during the freezes.

This happens in my offline world.

This was not happening few weeks ago.

Hello Matteo,

Thank you for reaching out to us on the forum.

Could you please share a bit more information about the issue you’re experiencing?

Does the crash occur every time, even in a new, unmodded world, when you follow the same steps (placing a hinge as part of a custom turret and then removing it or letting it fall to the ground and get destroyed or de-spawn)? Or does it only happen in a one/specific modded world?

Regarding the stuttering/freezing issue, please check if there are any pending updates for your Operating System or graphics drivers/adapters. If there are, install them, then launch the game and test again in a new, unmodded world.

If the issue persists, try lowering the game's graphics settings (Options > Graphics > Quality Preset > Click on the drop-down and select Low or Medium graphics settings. Press the OK button to save the settings and see if there’s any improvement.

If the issue still occurs in a new, unmodded world after trying these steps, please send us the latest log file from when the issue happened. It would be helpful if you could provide one log from when the stuttering occurred and another from when the game crashed. The log file name starts as, SpaceEngineers_

  • You can access your log files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers.

Kind Regards,
