Asteroid textures not loading

Investigating

Ever since the Apex update I am struggling with this problem.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5wGG_dv-7hI

After I jump my ship, the textures on the asteroids refuse to load unless you get very very close to them.

Also the render distance seems to be very low, as seen here

I tried deleting the game and deleting the appdata folder completly but nothing has helped. Changing graphics settings has no impact. This only started after the Apex update.

Having the same bug, 1st noticed it when getting close to certain asteroids, which voxels were blurry to me, especially the "Staging Station" asteroid encounter, while other asteroids were completely fine. Went thru the Voxel hands palette and it was "Stone_01" that was the only one being blurry for me. While "Stone_02" looked fine from the same distance.

Pic: From a newly created world with no mods and after validated install from steam as well. Left Voxel is "Stone_01" - Right Voxel is "Stone_02"

Even tho this bug has still not been addressed yet, was hoping that some how, in some way it be working in the latest Hotfix patch, 1.207.022. However the Stone_01 bug is still present in my saved world and a new one I made after the hotfix as well.

But in case if more information is needed, it only looks normal to me if I am up and close to it but as soon as I move a couple of meters away, it quickly losses its resolution. This bug has been persistent for me, feel like it has been since the Apex update but only not noticed it quickly because was playing mostly on Pertam. Wasnt until later when I got into space I noticed those blurry Asteroids with the Stone_01 texture.

Which by the way ive come across this report as well, https://support.keenswh.com/spaceengineers/pc/topic/49579-asteroid-textures-not-loading ,which had a link video to his Asteroid being bugged and its exactly what im seeing concerning the Stone_01 texture.

Hello Dușman,

Thank you for reporting this issue and sharing the videos with us.

We have tested this problem on multiple machines and were able to reproduce it only once — on a device with an RTX 3060 Laptop GPU. After further investigation, we found that installing the latest graphics drivers fully resolved the issue.

Could you please try updating your GPU drivers and let us know if this helps?

If the problem still occurs, it would be very helpful if you could share your full hardware configuration so we can continue investigating.

Kind Regards,

Ludmila Danilchenko

I always use the latest video drivers by updating them through nvidia app. I'll do a clean driver reinstall and get back at you.

My PC specifications are: i7 4790k, RTX 2060 6gb, 32gb ram, SSD.

EDIT: it would be helpful if you could tell me what graphics settings you used in your testing on the 3060 laptop. Thanks.

Keen I think I got it. It seems for me, when I change the game Graphic Setting: Shader Quality to Medium or Low. Stone_01 gets bugged by losing its resolution quickly a couple of meters away.

However, when I put the Shader Quality to High, it now finally appears to be working normally. Can you please test for this parameter. Thank you. My hardware specs is included in a comment in this report thread.

Keen, have you tested on xbox? This is Pertam orbiter world. 73526fb4f075bf9c99f80ff8851dc12b

Because of the insane default game volume (which is a widespread problem and thus your fault) I was not able to communicate with the streamer what model of xbox but the ingame user icon identified it as xbox.

Just created this start world "Pertam Orbiter" (attachment screenshot below) today on PC, version 1.207.022 and seeing the same. Looks fine up closely but loses it resolution quickly when backing off a couple of meters.

Been playing with this bug for a long while now and have been seeing it so far with the Random Encounters that includes an asteroid, the "Safe Station", "Staging Station" and the asteroid encounter with the Small Grid - Damaged Miner with the Large Grid-Large Reactor leaking radiation inside of it. All using Stone_01.

Here are my specs if needed, sorry not including it earlier on, it's my first time really making a bug report.

Did a clean driver reinstall with the latest driver. The issue remains. And here are my graphics settings. I can play on High or the Lowest but makes no difference.

Asteroids just don't load textures from a distance greater than a few meters?

I have it too, it's just one type of stone, everything else is ok, since version 1.207 there was an error. Reinstalling the game didn't help at all. I think it's something set incorrectly in some file
