Can't load into friends local hosted server

Investigating

So I have been playing Space Engineers for nearly 1,000 hours now. I have been playing on a long term server with a large group of friends. I live in the US and he lives in the UK. I had a old Omen PC that I played with and it worked just fine for a while. Recently I got a new PC a massive upgrade, I got everything installed and set up and now when I try to load into my friends server 1 of 2 things happen. Either my game will freeze and I can't do anything, so I have to tab out and close the game. Or I load into my friends server but the game says it's paused. I have left the game running for an hour when both of these things happened and nothing came of it. I have uninstalled and re installed the game. I verified the integrity of the game files. I have uninstalled all my mods and updated my system and graphics card. Nothing helped to fix it. The server that my friend is hosting is modded but that has never been an issue before. If I would have some help fixing this I would love if you could, the server I'm trying to join we have spent about 200+ hours of work into and I would like to be able to play in the server again.

Hello Brandon,

Thank you for reaching out to us on the forum.

Could you please confirm, are you currently trying to join your friend’s game via the Steam Overlay?

If so, please try the following workarounds that may help:

  1. Open Space Engineers → go to Join Game > Friends → and attempt to join your friend’s lobby from there (rather than through the overlay). This will likely resolve the issue.
  2. If the friend’s game does not appear in the Join Game screen, please make sure all players (including the host) are using the same Steam Download Region.
  • You can check this under Steam → Settings → Downloads → Download Region.
  • If players are in different regions, please set everyone to the same region as the host.

Once done, the host’s game should appear in the Join Game > Friends screen for all clients. Please check if you can then successfully join this way.

If this resolves the issue, just to let you know, we already have an internal ticket open regarding the problem with joining via the Steam Overlay here;

https://support.keenswh.com/spaceengineers/pc/topic/48996

If it does not resolve the issue, please send us the latest log files from both the host and client at the time the issue occurs so we can investigate further.

  • You (all players and host) can access log files by typing %appdata% into the Windows search bar → navigate to Roaming\SpaceEngineers.

Kind regards,

So my friend tried to load up his server again and I failed to connect to it again. To start off with I could not find his server in any of the server tabs provided in the game. In addition to that I also could not direct connect to his server either. Joining through steam also did not work. For kicks and giggles I hosted a friend server of my own. My friend also could not connect to me either with the exact same error. We would be trapped in the loading screen stuck at 100% for 10 or more minutes. I have asked my friend for his server cache files however he has refused and does not want to pursue solving this problem due to his frustration.

Thanks for the help you have already provided,

Thanks,

Brandon Gurr.

One last thing that I forgot to post in the previous post, these are the screenshots of my cache files when the error occurred. They are attached to this post.

Thanks,

Brandon Gurr.
