I like the darkness makes you use a torch but early on if you have to do shovels or picks no torch stands is a problem just added a simple wood torch you can place like the wood one simple fix. just grab some sticks and i agree the safe zone does need some torches added with this ambient darkness.a

I like the darkness as well. Makes torches and other sources of light actually useful!

I can't agree more. Nights are perfect now... and spooky! I especially love how you can see barbarians wandering in the distance now with their torches equipped.

Thank you for the report. This is not a bug but if more people will think that this is a problem we will look at it and maybe we will tweak some values.

simplest solution is to make the safe zone brighter (i booted into pure darkness unable to see my feet or the building)? or all new players come with a torch...

thank you, closed. not a bug. looking forward to the release! note i am still scared... :)

So...we realize that there is the case where a new player could spawn in the dark for the first time in multiplayer and not know what to do. We'll have to avoid that so we'll probably increase the ambient light again. We like the dark as well though, so how would you feel if we released a darkness mod that just changes the setting?

A night darkness slider in the world options would be cool, so everyone can adjust it to their liking.

I'd say the current darkness settings are just right, don't fix what isn't broken.

The light levels are great for me too. It is never completely dark for me. If you really can't see anything at all, maybe you need to turn up your monitor's brightness?

But yeah, some games have a "gamma" setting. Maybe that would help.

Dark is fine. night time is fine its all fine. night time is the time for sneaky things that only the dark can help with
