memory issues
Outdated
this issue can be observed on the ME and SE Server. Yes it is required to restart both servers at a time, but when a lot of players are active and creating, building, changing sooner or later the memory usage explodes.
So the main question now is, how to address this issue to Keen.
What is causing this immense memory waste. My question now is, is it a valid consideration to move the game data, which to a database during Development or for a future release?
Even if the game uses a mysql data as requirements?
the sandbox files also expand the more players are active or playing at some point, which end up in big loading times.
special case is ME: The more the players build, create, the bigger the world file becomes.
Hello, thank you for the report. This is little problematic because when we have lots of people on the server where they are mining and building it will increase the size of the save file. Mostly it's because of voxel changes.
I can speak only about ME and I think we are going to try to optimize ME in the future.

"I've also noticed this when building large structures, as the game progresses you'll notice that the time between clicking to place a block and it actually being placed start to become longer, to the point where it takes seconds for the blocks to place, and I'm not talking about multiple blocks, a single block placement will take seconds to do. It's as if the game was recalculating the structural integrity for the whole structure every time and keeping it the RAM or something, even on ground level structures that are all "white" with no SI, when you try to exit the game normally it takes minutes to do so, and so I've had to CTRL+ALT+DEL just to restart the game so the RAM gets cleared, when you look at your tasks it's always a ridiculous amount of RAM before you have to kill it."

On loading a single player game, my system now takes at least 2 minutes to stop freezing. After this time the process is still using 50% of the CPU and 2.5GB of RAM. This seems a huge amount of memory and processor usage even when the game is paused.
