Can no longer build in specific area

Hi there, having a bit of an odd issue I was hoping you'd be able to help out with. I took over one of the 'wonders castles' in the game and had been successfully refurbishing it for a while. Suddenly, I am no longer able to build on any of the blocks attached to the castle. I can place deployables, but I can not place any more stone blocks, walls, stairs, etc.
On the land outside the castle, I can build, but anything that is attached to the castle I can no longer place / build.
I can't attach the zipped world file as it's too large. Is there somewhere I would be able to send it to?
