Unable to paste grids together

Two separate times in two different worlds, I placed a blueprint in the world, and both times after I tried to paste another structure onto it, it wouldn't align properly, the structures would meet in between blocks

Here's how to do it, if I load and place the blueprint, all is fine.
However, becuse I wanted a very specific alignment for the blueprint what I do is place a random block to get my target alignment, then using that block's grid I paste the blueprint onto it, and then the whole thing's bugged and now you are unable to paste anything onto that grid. I've done this many times before why is it happening now?
