Dedicated Server Issues

There is a serious issue with some dedicated servers having to constantly reboot and constantly crashing and not being able to restart. This issue is destroying several Medieval Engineers communities and its making many server admins give up because their hosts delete the crash logs automatically when the server reboots. Please we beg of you, fix the dedicated server crashes. Make the game playable again.

Some of the biggest I've run into so far are:

1) " Error binding server endpoint: Only one usage of each socket address (protocol/network address/port) is normally permitted", This is causing a crashed instance to stay alive and result in the new instance unable to function properly on the same port.

2) Clean up tools broken. Handling static and dynamic grids the same.

Now with patch 0.7.1.52815E sim speed issues due to memory leak plus mentioned above and high processor usage. Game is unplayable, so us at Element Life are gone from the scene. Load up a dedicated vanilla server with no one on it. Let it run for a few minutes then watch the memory ramp up then sim speeds drop from 1.0 to 0.3. then the processor usage starts ramping.

Better yet, launch a fresh vanilla dedicated server. Watch the log file, when you see the errors it should say enough.

Update: newer update got rid of the processor, sim speed and the bigger memory leak. Working good so far but there does reside a small memory leak. Load up in Visual Studio and debug to see for yourself.

Our memory leak is still quite terrrible, we can barely last 20 minutes before hard stop.

Modded? If so mods are to blame mostly. Check your log files for errors with said mods. Most mods I have seen have super bad logic in them and are coded pretty bad. One bad mod can create a memory leak from hell. If you do not have time looking through the log, send it to me. I don't mind helping out where I can.

The server is entirely vanilla. The log says essentially nothing until it reports out of memory. I asked Deepflame about it and he recommended I make a report because paraphrasing him, 'the leak is not a priority please have people upvote the bug to bring it to the attention of the powers that be.'

We haven't found a solution other than to stop playing.

Server specs? It also could be faulty ram. If you rented the host, demand a different server. If it is your personal server, run MemTest86 on it to see if you have a bad stick of ram. You would be surprised on how much RAM I RMA for customer pc's. If you own the server as well, look under task manager or if on unix/linux run top and look at ram usage while the server is running. We will definitely upvote so it gets the attention that is needed!
