Ship cockpit no longer accepting any commands

Peter Doyle shared this bug 3 years ago
Won't Fix

I was recently playing a game with a friend of mine and we had a mining ship that we built together. We put two cockpits on it simply to be able to turn it around while in tight conditions so that we wouldn't get stuck.

After a while, one of us got the message that we couldn't control the ship because someone else was in a higher priority cockpit. We removed the second cockpit and reset the first as the "Main," but then the bug persisted, as if the second cockpit was somehow still being detected.

We tried to remove the cockpit and replace it with another one, but the message stayed there. When we tried to reconnect to see if it would resolve the issue, the bug message went away but we are STILL not able to control the ship.

To be clear, it's not an issue with the ship's construction and everything is turned on, the intertial dampening thrusters are firing, however if you try to control the Gyros or thrusters nothing happens at all. The cockpit has the boxes ticked to control thrusters and gyros, and is still set as the main cockpit, but I have no control.

We've tried transferring ownership of the ship blocks back and forth a couple times, but it seems like the error is still going despite the error message "You cannot control this ship" being gone or invisible. We found that we were able to control the ship in ONE WAY: only by using the manual thruster override will any of the thrusters actually fire other than inertial dampening. It's becoming very frustrating because trying to troubleshoot this issue just results in people claiming that we're doing something wrong.

Apparently this is a five year old bug now and no one either disabled second cockpits or found a way to keep it from happening in the time since.

Hello, Engineer!

Unfortunately we are unable to reproduce your issue. Can you please upload your blueprint or world to workshop and post it here?
