Make base construction/engineering contracts more complex
All base-building/engineering contracts are far too simplistic, especially at an advanced stage of progress, when you already have megastructures - contracts still asking you to build just a couple of solar panels and batteries feels truly underwhelming.
Now I'm at 3rd Regiogion "Oblivara", I think it's a 8th station counted from basic one on verdure, and EVERY contract is about building 2 batteries + 2 cargo + 2 solar.
At this stage, it’s absolutely absurd: I loaded 200 tons of spare parts onto a single ship and completed ALL the engineering contracts for the last three stations without ever returning to base.
It’s just annoying: flying 30 km, pressing a couple of buttons, flying 30 km back, and repeating that 15 times.
Going further in colonisation progress, contracts should become MUCH harder: Building a facility with 10 fabricators + 20 smelters + 5 refineries + 50 solar panels + 20 batteries + 20 x 7,5m Cargo + reactor + gravity genertor, etc, where you should fit all of that in the same size of "Green box" filling all free space inside it, sometimes even rebuilding some blocks since they went outside the zone boundaries.
You should bring all your fleet with mobile factories, drilling ships, etc.
I haven’t encountered this yet, but the second and third parts of this contract might involve further actions: load 100 tons of iron, 100 tons of nickel, and 100 tons of ice into a NEW base, and then manufacture certain components.
Otherwise, you just want to throw together the ugliest base imaginable in a matter of seconds - where not a single smelter or connector is actually hooked up to the cargo containers - and then take off as fast as you can, because there are 10 more identical missions waiting for you.
All my fleet and base stuck around Kemik station, because it lose any sense to move further if I need a single ship to complete all contracts in next regions. At all time of playing my Mega-ships never fly to other regions. What for ? No sense to create next sectors if it's Nothing to do there with your fleet.
In the end, I built just two small ships to complete every single mission across all the next regions: the first carried 200 tons of spare parts (3 x 2,5m cargo), and the second was equipped with a couple of guns to destroy the lonely turret encountered in combat contracts.
Looking back, I can remember only four contracts that truly surprised me by breaking away from the usual "repetitive construction" tasks: first required building two refineries inside an asteroid with tiny coridors inaccessible for ships, second was about constructing four or six 12.5-meter antennas (justified complexity at that stage of development), the third tasked me with building three communications satellites in open space, the fourth was about repairing a damaged red ship. These missions were genuinely engaging and left a lasting impression.
