1.25m^3 gyro please

The small gyros are not powerful enough and the medium gyros too much for an average build.

I would like a gyro in between please.

A gyro with early stage components.

It could be a 1.5m^3 if 1.25m^3 is problematic.

In the volume of a 1.5m^3 block you can fit 27 small 0.5m^3 gyros.

In the volume of a 2.5m^3 block you can fit 125 small 0.5m^3 gyros.

1.5m³ would have the advantage of fitting the 1.5m width of the standard cockpit and several other existing blocks. It could also be placed exactly on the center line of a vehicle. 1m³ would also be possible.

Personally, I would like a set of block sizes that follows powers of 2 (0.25m, 0.5m, 1m and 2m), but I guess that is water under the bridge.

Just let us use thrusters to rotate the ship.

Then all thrusters should be accounting center of mass which mean we basically need to build rockets so center of mass will be aligned with center of thrust.

I can be very much simplified for the "end user" and feel exactly as it is now. The force of acceleration and rotation along any given axis will still depend on the thrusters' position relative to the center of mass. Their placement would matter, Yet you would not manually control each of them (usually). If your main back thrusters are not on the same line as the center of mass, other thrusters will need to fire to compensate the rotation. You would use more fuel/energy. Balanced thruster placement is not required, but gives you a clear advantage.

Yes and no.

I am hoping for rover improvements and I have experienced enough rover runs in SE1 to know that a gyro is 100% necessary.

Then there is the minimum number of thrusters needed issue when building small, going from six to twelve.

PMW missiles need gyros to keep them compact.

I believe that gyros are necessary in mech builds.

Gyros also provide for mechanisms in other types of machinery for control where thrusters would not suit.

Gyro sense could be a system to determine which way is up for submersibles.

As for thruster based rotation, yes I think that there are good reasons to have this, and no not as a replacement of gyros, I'd rather thrust based rotation as a compliment to gyros.

May be a gyro could be used a cheat method for centre of gravity, anything other than the cockpit.

Yeah, you're right. I did not say that, but gyros can still be useful.
