Dampeners on/off should not be blocked while using jetpack boost.

Almost filed this as a bug. The Z key to turn dampeners on/off does not function while you are holding shift to do a jetpack boost. I get that this is shift +z to turn relative dampeners on/off, but the ability to toggle dampeners on/off while boosting feels like a natural flight control that I would use a million times for often than turning the relative dampeners on and off, especially since the latter turns off automatically when you leave the immediate area around your moving grid...which is 90% of the use cases for wanting the relative dampeners off in the first place.

Also get that you can turn them off and then accelerate to your hearts content. This is why I decided to put it here as feedback. It's counter intuitive that you can't boost and then switch to dampeners off without suddenly completely stopping and wasting the whole boost.

The combination of 'turn them off to start and accelerate to boost speed (in space)' with no hydrogen consumption, compared to boost using hydrogen (at about the same rate) and everything around those concepts is kind of wonky still.

though I suppose that the last bit is a different kind of feedback, the varying jetpack rules feel kind of disconnected still.

Still wonky :)

I found that that if you have no dampeners on in atmo and angle yourself 45 degree's ish upwards and press space and w, you will have liftoff and not be restricted by the speed limit. And in space turning off dampeners gives you the same acceleration as with hydrogen, at least comparable enough that its not worth using hydrogen in atmo or space.

Oh, certainly. The point is that 'boost' and the other thruster modes are kind of odd in their current form. If I boost to full speed, I should be able to maintain that speed by turning dampeners off, I can't. Instead, I (in space) ignore boost completely and accelerate at exactly the same rate-ish with dampeners off. I think the core issue is that Z is overlaoded, there should be different hotkey combos for 'relative dampeners on/off' and 'dampeners on/off'. Since you have to hold shift down to maintain boost it forces you to hit shift+z to turn off dampeners, which instead turns off relative dampeners (and if you're not near a grid it simply does nothing). Make relative dampeners on/off ctrl+z or something and the problem goes away as long as dampeners on/off recognizes shift+z and 'z' equivalntly.
