Toggleable Visibility or Ghosting for Blueprint Blocks (RE SE1 show only buildable)
Building from a blueprint or partial blueprint in survival is so frustrating due how the blueprint visibility works at the moment. As of the time of writing this post, all the feedback related to this problem is either archived or submitted as bug reports that haven't gotten much traction. So apologies for any redundancy from older posts but I really think this issue could use some focus.
The way it works now it's very difficult to see what I can actually weld in survival on a blueprint. In SE1 projectors had to option to show only buildable blocks which i pretty much always had turned on. It is almost mandatory for viable hand welding in survival and the same is true of SE2 I think.
Now I know that block welders have longer range and the area welder exists but I don't believe they address my issue. Both can greatly reduce the tedium of welding bunches of 25cm detailing blocks. And block welders make welding blocks with lots of components much easier just the same as in SE1. But my issue is one of visibility and access than it is speed or convenience. I can't see what I'm doing half the time. My screen is just a mess of glowing blue. And that's assuming I can actually weld the block behind whatever blueprint blocks are obstructing my view. A lot of the time I'm just spammed by the "unauthorized action" message due my welder targeting an unsupported blueprint block in front of me.
Ok enough complaining and now to my actually suggestions. Since we don't have projectors in SE2 and blueprints are placed directly in world the SE1 implementation won't work here. I suggest that blueprint visibility could be toggled either through the player's welder tool or perhaps in the control section of whatever grid the blueprint is attached to.
I understand that placing a blueprint on a grid and having all but weldable blocks disappear might be confusing for newbies. It would induce a "wtf where'd my blueprint go?" reaction. Which honestly is responsible. Perhaps a better approach would be two different levels of transparency on the blueprint. Blocks that have current support and can be welded would have the current holographic viability while the rest of the blocks would show as a very faint ghost that is easy to see through. That would make survival hand welding so so much better while retaining the ability to stll see the whole place blueprint.
Tldr version: make unsupported blueprint blocks much more transparent than the currently supported weldable ones to improve visibility and general player experience while building in survival.
This honestly would massively improve the gameplay experience for me and I think is a necessary QoL this game desperately needs.
Thanks for your time,
Michael
