Impossible to complete Contract

The Contract -> Station Upgrade - Hydrogen Facility

In latest build 2.4 is impossible to complete.

Steps I took,

1. took mission, flew up, entered box, built required, flew to permissions box, say done but box doesnt remove box., left what was built and flew down, restarted mission, flew up, build gone.

2. reloaded game from backup. took blue print of build. tore it down, flew down. restarted contract, flew back up, placed blue print, built up, said go over to perms box, did, same result.

3. abandoned contract, tore down build, rebuilt from blue print, renamed grid and put antenna on it. flew down to vallis reach, restarted the contract. when restarted contract, heard big explosion. flew back up, build gone.

there was multiple saves and restarts of games during the above

I don't know where the files are stored.

Love SE2, want to help. Since I played progression in 2.3 for 300+ hours. I noticed that in 2.4 it is on the missions that have a progression percentage increase. I was able to do like above on the radio mission previous and when flew back to it, was still there and it let me finish.

Hello Ben Johansen,

Please verify your Game files through Steam. Then:

  1. Load your Save
  2. Accept the Contract
  3. Abandon the Contract
  4. Save the Game and exit to Main Menu
  5. Load the Save
  6. Try to complete the Contract

If that does not work, please try to Publish your World to Steam Workshop and start a New Game, using the published World and then try to complete the Contract.

If that also won't work and you are ok with using debug, you can try to regenerate Contracts by following these steps:

  1. Make sure that there is no active Contract
  2. Open debugmenu (Ctrl+F12)
  3. On the left panel select Gameplay → Contracts
  4. On the right panel scroll down until you see "Generation" tab
  5. Press "ClearAllContracts" button
  6. Press "ReGenerateContracts" button
  7. Scroll to the bottom of the right panel
  8. Press "Refresh" button and wait a few seconds

And then try to complete the Contract.

Please let me know if any of these help.

Kind Regards,

Bartosz

Hello I wanted to submit my findings in regards to the "build Missions" I had the issue when I was doing my play through of survival to help in this matter.

On the very last mission you receive from the space station over the starting planet you build a radio tower and try to stand in the box when transfer owner ship of the grid, and while the objective shows complete it doesn't give you an objective to go back and turn the job in to get your rewards.

In my initial testing I Tried a few things:

  • Restarting the game
  • Aborting and Re accepting the contract and retrying to complete (To Include your initial steps)
  • Verifying game files

All Failed to fix the bug.

My Fix was Regenerating the Contracts using the Debug tool per your steps and everything seemed to work just fine after.

I will update you if something changes but will have to be a tomorrow issue. Lastly if you need a sample of what i ran in to I can send you the save file otherwise i have published it with only having a few blocks left to finish under the name ""For Game Dev's" Broken Build Mission Shadowolf7wx" anyway hope this help

Verified the game files from steam properties. All good.

Did the first section up to publish game files (never done that, don't know how)

Same Issue, after building the required, went over to small box it says its completes but little box doesnt go away.

as for going into debug Ctrl-F12 I already played like 260+ hours in 2.3 with that popup on start saying that I cheated (even though it didn't) just to move on. I started a whole new game for 2.4 and wanted to try to play thru without debug.

I know how to do the debug thing. the whole point of the bug report was to notify there is an issues with contracts. Its not that I want to just use a work around to progress.

I will wait till there is a new patch or update.

thanks for your reply

I have the same thing. I've been playing this world long enough that I do not want to restart it just yet so I will be using the console to force it, but it happened exactly the same way.

Apparently i cannot continue even with the debug menu, because the objective is complete but the mission cannot be handed in. I am stuck. i published my world on Steam https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3790204097 for testing. i tried verifying the game file integrity, i tried redoing the mission, i tried restarting and redoing the mission, i tried doing a different mission then coming back. i didn't try regenerating the contracts because i could not figure out how to do it with the instructions above. i also have not started a new world yet, but i might if nothing happens in the next few weeks.

Hello,

have same problems starting in Vallisc Reach station with "colonization progress" contracts (playing Steam "default public version"). None from desribed receipts helped. I try hard way - replay the game on se2version_2_0 - it works perfectly no errors, contract completed. Switched to "default public version" and played contracts until next with "colonization progress" -same problem on Palatine contracts - i guess something is broken in version updates ...

I had similar issues.

After hints from Bartosz, I started a new game with the 2.4 update and the contract completed correctly.

It is a pain to replay all of the early stuff but it game me a chance to see some new things and try a few different approaches.

Hello Engineers,

Clarification - Hotfix 1 for Vertical Slice 2.4 contains the fix to the issue with Station Upgrade Contracts completion, however, the fix is not applied to saves created before the Hotfix was released. This is due to the way that the Contracts data is stored in the Save Files and due to us being unable to overwrite the Saved Games.

For now, most reliable option to force the fix into Saves older than Hotfix 1 is regenerating Contracts through Debug Menu (Please note that this flag your Save as having Debug Enabled). If you are having trouble finding the specific buttons, here are screenshots of their locations:

Left Panel:

Right Panel:

Let me know if that helps.

I did a lot of testing in the debug console, and this worked for me. It did force me to redo all the missions for this sprint, which was annoying, but because I already did them, I just used the debug console to just spawn the items I needed deliver and to build what I was missing. Saved loads of time, and the save was already marked anyway so no harm done.

Thank you for the Hotfix and the workaround!

Ah so reading Cloudy's reply, this is the intended behaviour for the fix, I thought in my recent post I didn't need to make all contracts again only the frozen one.

Probably I will start a fresh new game soon when contracts are safe, this was a good learning game how mechanics work. I had the funny moments when the stolen Renegade Dropship repeaired on my base started to destroy all my grids with auto minigun. :)

I was wondering a research screen could help or via a new research block where you could spend time/resources to get the unlocked blocks without contracts. So you could still develop if a contract is frozen or just too hard for the player, contracts would act like a mission which get the blocks + other rewards as now. But I understand thats a design direction and not just a new tab on UI.

Hello, dear Bartosz!

I had the same issue and tried your solution with Debug/Regenerate. I followed the procedure, but the result was that the "Station Upgrade - Hydrogen Facility" contract disappeared from my list, and I just got my old already finished contracts back, but not the problematic one.

Well if the savegame marked already with debug applied, the "Finish active contract" button doesnt make the job here?

Though I'm not sure what this marking means, does it give a disadvantage later?

I had a problematic contract earlier where the solution was doing it in one game session without saving, but in this case it did not.

Btw I love the game even in alpha state, though sometimes "redo the contract" frustrates me a little bit, as some contracts need more hours to complete at least for me, even I used a blueprint for Hydrogen Facility, area welding it again takes time.

But keep up the good work, I'm patient for a fix :)

cheers,

Gabor

Hi, sorry for late response, I restarted on a new save and it is working now. thanks

The one thing I would point out here is that if you regenerate the contracts, the rocks (on planets) and asteroids will be regenerated and the original ones removed. I found out the hard way after returning to my base near Vallis Reach to find my entire base sitting on it's side on the floor with the rock it was built on having vanished as it was the site of an earlier contract. I decided to go back to an earlier save. So just beware.

I restarted the game to check how it works, will take a note when Im at this contract again.

Btw doing the contract "Destroy the Renegade Base" is still problematic after update, seems looses data if the game saved and you continue it after load. If you do it in one game session, it works. (the one with missile aimed at renegade turret).
