How to disable autosave?

How do I disable the autosave feature? I have set it to disable in the settings, but the game still autosaves. I do not want the game randomly creating saves that are not needed. I, for one, was taught long ago to save my work often, since you never know when your work will be lost for whatever reason. If your going to give me the option, at least make it work, please.
