Need More Information

Hello,

I am experiencing a bug in the campaign mission "Objective 2: Destroy the Renegade Base".

I destroyed the mission targets, including the turret and the key objectives inside the base, but the mission does not complete. The objective remains active and I cannot progress further in the campaign.

Game version:

(Please insert your game version here.)

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Start the mission "Objective 2: Destroy the Renegade Base".
  2. Destroy the turret and all identified key objectives.
  3. The mission does not complete.

Expected behavior:

The mission should complete after all required objectives have been destroyed.

Actual behavior:

The objective remains active and campaign progression is blocked.

I have attached a screenshot showing the mission objective.

Thank you for your support.

Hello Jochen Frahm,

Have you repaired / welded up the Control Seat and launched the Missile from it in the Objective 1 of that Contract?

I have tried to finish this mission 5 times. Fired the missile on 3/5 attempts, tried to shoot everything with gatling guns, tried to disable everything with my grinder, tried a combination of both shooting and grinding, tried not firing the missile.

I think the "gets stuck" happens if you save the game while the mission is still active. At least, that was my experience. Did multiple runs, and every time I had to take a break in the middle of the mission, it ended up in the "stuck" condition. When I did the mission all in one go in the same session without exiting/reloading, it completed ok.

To me that kind of behavior points to a bug where some part of the mission state info does not get saved and stored into the save game. When you load the save, the mission state info no longer matches with the actual situation, and it's stuck.

Workaround: If you are stuck, abandon and restart the mission, and then do it in one, single session.

Same issue. Did all the preparations a couple days ago, welding up the control seat & all conveyors. Loaded up today, shoved ice into the missile and from the control seat i pressed P. Missile flew off, exploded. Objective for fixing the conveyors and launching the missile remained.

That led to the "seeing sparks from very far away" bug so I guess the missile blew up something that went flying off never to be seen again.

Welded up the gatling cannons, went over there and shot the 2 leftover targets, whatever they were. Targets disappeared, objective remained. I flew back to the control seat which still was the only thing left with a target marker on it.

Tried to force finish the objectives with the debug menu but that did nothing either, it didn't tell me to go back to the contract place to hand in the completed quest, and I still had the target marker sitting on that control seat so I ground that thing down for good measure too.

It would be good if there were a way round this as I cannot continue. Same issue, the seat still has a objective marker and the base is gone. If this has to be done in one session do you have to turn off autosave?

Don't think we can, I tried to turn auto save off yesterday but it says it only affects new save games. I think people mean to say that we gotta do the whole contract at once without exiting the game to avoid the bug about something not being saved/loaded

Against my better judgement, I just did a speed run through this level. Use a save that is from before accepting the mission. Makes sure you have iron and ice handy in your own inventory.

  1. Accept mission
  2. Go to destination
  3. Repair connectors
  4. Load up the power generator with ice (it's down on the lower floor to the right)
  5. Repiar the seat
  6. Sit in the seat hit 'P'
  7. Jump back into your ship and skip over the renegade base
  8. Deconstruct/grind all 3 remaining targets, I did the battery bank last as it is furthest away

All being well, as you start to head back to your ship it will say mission complete!! Phew, or perhaps I am just lucky and success is random :-\

Seems to confirm then that there indeed is a bug in how the game saves mission information to the save game file. Likely some particular information is now missing from the data that it saves, and when you load the saved game, that information is then missing, and the mission status info no longer matches with the actual situation, and you get stuck. If you do the mission in one go without exiting the game, that piece of info stays alive, and the mission completes fine.

You did a good test. Observations seems to point to this conclusion.

If any Keen support guys are here, could you pass on this info to your devs? Ask them to check the save game functionality for mission state information. Likely it's now not saving some variable or other piece of data, that it really should save.

the contracts in Space Engineers 2 seems really fragile because they're difficult to try to complete in a consistent manner, for me the bug seems to happen when the game starts to stutter and slow down, for me it does not seem to matter whether I do it all in one go or if I reload from the Save., this feels like to me that either the contract state is not being generated or being overwritten therein cannot be added to the save file...

I too just completed this contract. You can let the game save itself all you want, that's fine. It's loading it during the contract that messes it up.

I also did this contract very weird this time, I caught a signal from a hostile turret and went over there before I even reached the staging area. I ground down the turret, stole the components from the hydrogen tank, the o2/h2 generator, the reactor, the solar panels, the battery, and the 2 gear forges, and the contract successfully completed. I never went to that base thingy to build the conveyors, launch the missile, or take that gatling ship over to shoot the place up this time, neither did I ever trigger that part of the contract. Lol.

I repaired the chair and pipe to the missile then released it, the trigger to move forward in the mission did not execute. provided screen shot of turret target destroyed. I did notice the target on the command chair is still there after the missile launched. I destroyed all targets and mission never completed, abandoned and tried the mission 3 times with no success. I'm currently on the updated version of game and validated all files are current. I saved the game after I accepted the mission at the station and restarted the game at a later time.
