Component variety and recipes
The current variety of component types is limited and in turn limits the expansion of functional block types.
Recipes are sequenced and as such do not allow the player to drop off components into the block even though they are part of the blocks build.
Since when do you need 5 hard drives to make a single channel timer ? Am i missing something when it comes to simplification ?
Adding additional component types would allow the recipes to be more logically reasonable.
The material input for some components leaves me scratching my head.
There is a difference between simplification and being misleading in terms of science and engineering. A young adult could be forgiven for not knowing how something works or is made, because SE2 taught them the wrong thing.
Please add some component types that give a better clue on material content and function.
Add a few jelly bean ICs like a 555 or a 558 and some others, this is not rocket science, but it would be educational and appropriate without confusing those with little real world knowledge.
There are other examples, lets talk about them.
I like this feedback
I know that this is a game, but more work is needed on the ingredients for building blocks and components to make the game 'with engineering' sit in good standing.

Motherboard implies that sub-components are required, an SOC (system on a chip) and FPGAs would make good components instead. Hard drives are almost a thing of the past like reel to reel tapes, solid state storage devices are the norm now unless there is an intention to go retro. Talking of retro, Vacuum tubes still have a place in the tech world.
