Non-lethal weapon - netgun - for capturing creatures & engineers

Occasionally, capture would be the objective.

A close range netgun that throws a net over the target disabling their movement.

It could have a built in stun function to prevent struggle or jetpack usage.

May be if a players engineer is captured, the captured player could temporarily play in the place of an NPC character.

I would like to see more exploration with gameplay options. I think the die and re-spawn as a default, places too little value on the players avatar. A player loosing their characters freedom, raises the question of the best use of play time, this I am not denying. My observation is that a lot of conflict play is kill or be killed, for most this gives playtime satisfaction, but after many years of play this style offers little in the way of nuance. I ask myself what am I missing out on in terms of how encounters can turn out.

RPGs deal with this problem, so is it possible in SE ?

The switching out of your character is not a problem, it is not being able to switch back to your original character, should you wish to do so, that is the issue, a choice that you no longer have because you terminated your character. RPG party games solved this problem by allowing you to control more than one character, when one character is stuck you can use another to rescue them.

When VS4 NPC characters are available, SE could make switching the player control from one character to another possible.

weapon options can set this whole thing alite.... net cartrige for rocket launcher, concussion rounds for rifle, cripling an engineers arm or leg with a pistol and "high impact" rounds

and freezing drifting blocks. take it a step further and add a tether line where you can clip it or mag lock it to a bit of your ship.
