News reporter for significant game events

I made a post on discord, and was it was suggested that I add my comment as a ticket here.

I did not think of doing this initially as I have reservations on whether this idea would fit in to SE2.

This is the message that I posted :

"I am waiting for the first game that has an in game bard/news reporter AI that could analyse gameplay events and produce a news report/story from the event. A virtual talking head could read out the report with screenshots like a news show. The broadcast would be available on a display should you wish to see/hear/read it. The AI would need a mediocrity filter, to avoid common place occurrences. If you had an epic MP battle somewhere or a magnificent collision, the system would create a news record of it for your later review. It could report on NPC events too."

Since then I have been considering what would be recorded and reported on. I know that once the fact elements are there it would be possible for an AI to write a news report based on the facts. I am aware that both Forbes and Bloomberg were early adopters of this technology. They also added a spin and bias function, I do not think that this would be necessary in a game like SE, faction propaganda may be a step too deep.

Types of events worth recording in the SE universe:

Maiden launch of a new type of vessel

Construction of a major installation

Battles

Product launches - New component types or blocks

Pirate activity

Newly discovered territories

Temporary closures - of facilities or access to regions of space

Bad weather

Competitive challenges : like racing events

The AI need not be on the players computer or server, but it could be if hardware resources allow.

It could be an opt in remote service that is added to any game.

News reports of gameplay could be available on a website too if players are willing to share.

Why do this:

Sometimes I feel that events take place that I miss or did not get a full picture on. If I was not there at the time at least I could catch up on the 'goings on' of the day. I if was there and was caught up in the heat of the event I could read another perspective on the occasion.

The news events would create a historical record that could be reviewed.

Having a news report when flying your vessel could give you an update on a situation that you might be approaching. The news reports will also make the universe seem busy and alive.

If some of the SE gameplay event news reporting was available on a website, it may make for good marketing to prospective new players. An animated talking head on a regular YT podcast would be another option, you could use a vtube like character to do this.

This may all sound a little extreme, but it will probably happen on a game somewhere in the future if it is not already happening.

I will have to research this a little more to see if other games are doing something similar, and on the ideas popularity within those games. I believe that Eve online has manually reported on significant game events in the past. Many gameplay streams record and edit their activities, but this is much more long winded and subjective than I am proposing. A news item should be a relatively short presentation, include some data and an image or two.
