Idea: Reactive Ship Hologram

Now, I know what you're thinking: "We already have this in SE1 because of Hologram Tables! And (presumeably) we're gonna add them to SE2 at some point!"

If you are thinking this, you are partially correct.

You see, while, yes, we do have ship holograms in SE1, they aren't reactive on their own. You set a blueprint to them, and, sure, it looks pretty good, but it doesn't do anything. It's a setpiece at best, and, it's not a bad thing, I'll admit, and it is probably possible to make the hologram reactive via scripts, but that would make the entire build incompatible with the console support that I can only hope you add in the far future. There is just so much more potential for the Hologram Table that you guys at Keen might not be seeing.

Picture this: you're in the heat of battle, in your huge dreadnaught, kicking Space Pirate arse like they're the Revnant to your Doomslayer. Then, BANG! A hole is blown open in your hull somewhere, but you just can't find it from the seat! And that Hologram Table in the bridge isn't helping, it doesn't update based on your actual ship! You can't send your crew to fix the breach, you can't even find it! Leaking Oxygen, you make the decision to jump away, before your ship becomes a scrapper's next worksite. You start thinking that your ship might not be as good as you first thought, and as you jump far, far away, you cant help but feel let down at your own concience.

Now, I know the situation above might seem a bit... overexaggerated, but you can see my point, right? By having a setting on the Hologram Table that switches it from, say, "Display" to "Reactive", the Hologram Table could give you a damage readout on your ship at a simple glance, allowing you to more efficiently direct your crew to damaged areas and such. It could also be used for navigation around the ship, by adding a setting that only displays the planiar slice of the ship that is the same as the plane the Hologram Table is on, maybe even with a red dot or something to indicate the Hologram Table's position on the map, making moving around a ship's internals much easier.

I'd even find it helpful to have the hologram table be able to mark specific blocks in the hologram.

Example: I have a hologram table projection of my grid and I'm trying to find a specific cargo container or door or whatever. It would be neat if I could select 'mark on projection table' or whatever you want to call it, and all the selected blocks are highlighted in a specific color in the hologram that is distinct to the normal hologram color. Also, 'show all blocks of selected type', like 'show all production blocks', or 'show all thrusters, etc. and these would get marked differently in the hologram. Maybe tie it to control panel groups too, so you could create a group of blocks and then mark them with 'color choice'.

This may be a diversion from the original idea, but a 3rd "radar" mode, potentially tied to a sensor, ore detector, or beacon block on the grid instead of a blueprint, could add even more utility to an otherwise decorative block. The ability to switch between a damage control hologram like originally described and local short-range blips for nearby ships, POIs, or ores could be very useful. This may be less necessary with POIs appearing on the hud normally, but it would be an immersive way to display map data without opening a menu or looking through walls in a general direction.

i like this idea, and would like to see it as a way to create blueprints for ship designs.

instead of building a ship block by block on a physical hologram of the ship, use the table to design your grid as a blueprint. this solves an issue i am having with designing my ship in creative, bumping it in space and it floating away before ive got the bits to hold it in one location. and saves me from having to run back into my base/ship to recharge while designing my ship, just sit down at the drawing board and design it there then paste the blueprint where i want to build it.
