See name of character individually with mouse over + 'key'

When co-op/multiplayer comes along it will be useful to have a display mode where text name tags are shown when you mouse over a character and hold a 'key' down.
This will prevent tag clutter but allow you to figure out who someone is.
Other feature options for this could include -
1. Only reveal name if a character is a friend or neutral.
2. Shout name - where a character can briefly reveal their own name tag and optionally a short one line message.(suggest less than 20 chars)

I have watched many SE videos where one player is trying to work out who they are looking at without turning on all of the marker tags everywhere.
The shout option may be good for NPCs trying to get attention without stopping to talk to you directly.
