Paint gun functions and painting system in general
The paint gun should have the ability to paint 1 layer through and through the entire creation on either X and Y planes.
It should also have a mirror mode like the building.
I would also not be opposed to have a painting system that let's you play with the layers of your creation to create bisections and reach hard to paint places without having to deconstruct and reconstruct the ships outter or inner layers to access in between which is why I proposed the first 2 functions if this third one cannot be achieved.
Oh and maybe adding decals or saved paint logic...
For instance, having a function to paint all Square light armored block one color and then paint all the corners another with one click on the creation and being able to save this logic as to apply it across one's fleet and create a standard paint for our faction's creations.
To balance things and make them make sense, I recomend adding a paint station where parking a ship within lets one do more advanced painting functions that I've proposed above.
Oh and there is a world where I'd not mind having to craft each color, based on a metal being crushed for pigment and producing water to mix it in I guess? Something simple like replenishing the painting station like one would a printer where the paintgun has less function and consumes more paint per block then painting at a station. (This could as well serve as a reason to introduce water requirements in survival and it creates a reason to have "liquid management" introduced in the future with its own pipes, pump, filters and processing to automate its extraction, production and replenishment of not just water, but ALL liquids that may apear in the present or future of the game such as acid water or liquid ressources in general)
One last thing... We should be able to paint only 1 side of a block too for creations that have slim one layer thick hulls.
