Thank You Keen!
1st off thank you keen the game is growing fast and looking great!
FYI: (Just so you know my biases) I am a long time SE1 player who mostly made digging equipment and I always turned off progression
Now onto the feedback:
I spent about an hour bouncing between the "Classic Survival Start" and "planetary Start No Tutorial" and tried the "balancing iteration mod" on both of them
What was surprising to me is when I loaded up "Classic Survival Start + Balancing Iteration Mod" My brain said "I am home!" and suddenly I had to build massive digging rig and tera-form the surface of a mountain (Total success by the way).
I shared the experience with my wife and she actually got into the game too and was enjoying that she could make digging things to make money (iron). so maybe there is something there.
An idea is what if only verdure gave you ore when you dig on that planet and your 1st spawn is there so its an EASY place to start for noobs BUT as you venture to other planets you have a tougher time dealing with the logistics of resource accumulation and have to engineer around those logistics.
I DO want to make sure I am clearly stating that I am confident I can greatly enjoy SE2 in the other configurations but as a klang conditioned SE1 player I did lock in instantly when I played Classic Survival Start + Balancing Iteration Mod
Starting with access to all the blocks makes me FEEL more like Its an engineering game 1st which I really like as my ability to acheive is then limitied by my abilities as an engineer in the game rather then engineering skill + Progression via missions
I do honestly believe that we should have a REASON to dig DEEP I think it would be awesome if going deep into the planet had an effect where all forms of thrusters became inoperable (Hydro triggers gas pocket explosions, atmo loses effectivity due to back wash, ion already is struggling on a planet) forcing us to make Wheeled digging equipment to go down and harvest MASSIVE or very high yield ore patches.
also just throwing it out there I LOVE the Sabiroids from SE1 and I have always believed that they should be part of SE2. I would love it it Sabiroids spawned in proximity to a hive structure and once you destroy the hive the area is not clear of sabiroid spawn. also I feel that like factorio the sabiroids should be attracked to player constructions.
I rambled because I am excited
Thank you keen for the great game
