First impression is too dumbed down
I just set out for a replay of the FTUE, and immediately felt treated like a toddler that cannot find its own ass. The instructions from the game leave no sense of achieving things on your own, every step is scripted. After landing with the pod they start with a "Go there" (distance maybe 25m), next is a "inspect the ship", then "excavate your way into the mine" and so on.
My suggestion is that Ivan could instead act as a guide and give less and more general guidance. Like "Near your position, our satellites have shown an old mining camp. Try to find some resources there." Then let the player discover the cave. Driven by his own curiosity rather than step by step instructions. The next hint from Ivan could come when the player actually discovers the ores. "With the ores here you could repair the ship outside and go exploring."
In short, a bit less guided tour for three year olds and a bit more adventure game from the 1980s. Where the player has to connect at least some of he dots himself. There is a continuum between "insultingly easy" and "frustratingly difficult". Right now the SE2 FTUE is the former, I think closer to the middle ground would be better,
