I was asked to come here and give feedback. Here is what i expected in SE2 vs what i got.

opening movie (you guys make incredible in game movies). blue or red ship being attacked in space...engineer hopping into a landing vehicle and headed to the planet and their ship crashing into the planet or something like that and a basic tutorial to allow me to build a basic base and another for building your first ship to get out into space ... something like that maybe one for the first space station and doing missions. progression explained during the building of your first vehicle to get off the planet... Skippable for returning players...enable tutorials or something like that during world creation. What I got was crash on a planet, here is a ship repair it, get to space, can i build yet nope do missions with no idea when or how i get the ability to build more than a cargo container, get frustrated and leave after a few missions and i still havent built a ship.

Not sure about you guys but to me space engineers 1 the most amazing feeling was after crashing one rocket attempt to get off a planet finally escaping gravity the first time was amazing...then came the stress of finding more ice before I lost the ability to move in space.

things that needed to be addressed I believe from SE1 were as follows.

a reason to do missions...reason to go to a planet once in space there must be a reason to build ships for re entry when space is preferrable for resources ie uranium...and planets add to difficulty with gravity. a reason to make different types of ships for different purposes...what to do late game. Combat ai being so good at ripping ships apart to the point I kept turning them off.

reason to do missions well what i've seen from SE2 this was attempted but blocks freedom way too long with no way of knowing what i'm getting...and it restricts heavily freedom to build. How about having this instead progression stays the same as se1. Missions give rewards and faction raises or better rewards as the faction raises not here is some credits with nothing to really spend it on of importance, but real rewards like color patterns for paint, new designs for cockpits, different color trails for ion or hydrogen engines, as faction level increases the rewards increase. there must be a reason to do a mission that makes the mission worth doing.

A reason to go to a planet... perhaps the factions some are only available on planets and planetary rewards for missions have to do with creating land vehicles...wheels, car cockpits, planetary thrusters... this also gives a reason to make re entry vehicles...maybe the factions have planetary specific planetary bases giving different rewards from the ones in space.

Ships for purpose ... why can't I fly from faction station to faction station dealing in oxygen or hydrogen...build a base on an ice moon that processes ice to both and build a specific ship that has cargo and thruster separated hydrogen to be sold to faction stations for credits...and faction bonus if someone was selling my station fuel and oxygen i'd start to like them more...maybe i'm a processed uranium dealer...have to find deposits of whatever....make the credits worth having also the factions...i'd have to build ships specifically for hauling and processing the ores to sell...a raw ore sells for far less than one that's processed in most cases.

another issue with se2 that i've noticed was my lack of freedom...i played a bit and never unlocked the necessary ship parts to build my own ship...that is the essence of the game, creativity and building I generally hate flying others ships.

Also ...build things from raw ore and when tearing things down you get components but I didn't see an assembler anywhere...seems like a half measure...wanted to eliminate the assembler but why would i use one when i can just build out of raw ore...come to think of it I didn't see a refiner yet either...but why would I when i can just use ore...makes little sense unless they just weren't ready for release.

These are just things i've noticed would help SE1 has been incredible to play but seemed to be in need of a late game...SE2 ... well i got through 11 hours and eh ...
