Blueprint interaction with existing grids

Basically I would like the function of the projector block from SE1 where I can use a blueprint to modify an existing grid by overlaying the blueprint on the existing grid. Right now a blueprint can't intersect and existing grid, only add to it. If the blueprint could intersect with an existing grid and controls be added to nudge the blueprint (possibly by holding the ALT and using WASD controls?) so that it could be aligned with the grid, this would make modifying existing grids much easier.

this would also be handy to have the turn on/off blueprint and cancel blueprint build.

One of the problems would be that the projected blocks that the player puts down in SE2 count as blocks the player owns and consume the full PCU amount before they are welded. They would have to create a projector block in SE2 the same way it works in SE1. It's probably already in the future plans.
