New gatling weapon range?

So we've finally seen some stats for the new gatling weapons, and have been shown that their maximum range is... 400m. Every time I was in combat in SE1, I was wishing that combat could take place at longer ranges, but instead the ranges have been halved.
When combined with the new movement speeds of 300m/s, ships will be getting less than 3 seconds firing time on each other before they're out of range again, and this is ignoring how long it takes to aim at the target as well.
It would be nice if weapons could at least be upped to 800m like in SE1, but preferably further (1.2km?) to make them much more practical to use in combat and as point defence.

I agree, combat needs to feel less like ‘WW1 but in space’
Ideally even further than the 1.2km you stated would be a lot better, just take a look at how well the LKCR mod on SE1 handles it.

All weapon ranges should be kilometers rather than few hundreds of meters and it should be up to players choise how we put the slider what distance our turrets starts firing.
