Connectors cause game crashes

I built a larger ship that I'm currently leaving near the station in the system as my main base. I did the mining mission and brought back the little mining ship it has you build and docked it to my main ship. I then went back on to the next contract(the renegade system), finished that and headed back. Now, as soon as I get near the station, it crashes. If I fly back with just my suit, it lets me get close enough to get in the miner, but I can see the connectors shaking, and it crashed when I disconnected them. The first time I had come back, the ships were spinning at high speed, so I'm sure that's what's causing the issue that crashes the game.
